Low-maintenance may have kept the relationship stable
But you paid in intimacy
Real connection requires two differentiated adults —
not one overfunctioning and one accomadated

The thing you're avoiding is the thing

The conflict you avoid
The pattern you repeat
The discomfort you numb
The conversation you keep postponing

That's the work. All of it.

Healing takes time. Annoyingly so.💪

You wouldn't cancel on everyone else this many times.
So stop rescheduling yourself. You're worth showing up for.

My interns just found out they’re gut-health heroes. 🐶🦠 Their stock options are going up!
After diving into Dr. John Cryan’s research on the microbiota gut brain axis, we learned something pawsome. 🐾 Dogs support your brain and your belly.

↓ cortisol
↑ oxytocin
Improved vagal tone
More resilient stress response

Regular interaction with dogs is associated with greater microbial diversity and adaptivity. Cuddles increase our oxytocin and gets us out of fight or flight.

🧠 A hill I'll die on as a therapist: mental health cannot be separated from brain health.
Today was such an incredible day at the Center for Brain Health Level Up Conference. I got to learn from some of the best scientists in the world on brain health and longevity and I am leaving fired up. We are in the middle of a brain health revolution and I want my clients to have access to all of it.
Here's what I'm bringing back to my practice:
🧠 How to use AI in a way that benefits our brain health rather than makes us dumber
🦠 How improving our gut microbiome directly impacts our mental and cognitive health
🤝 Why purpose and social connection are some of the most powerful tools we have for long term brain health
This is the kind of science that changes lives and it deserves a seat at the therapy table. I am so committed to staying at the forefront of this and making sure brain health never gets left out of the mental health conversation. 🔥
If you are in the DFW area I cannot encourage you enough to check out the Center for Brain Health and take advantage of their free resources. This information should be accessible to everyone.

You're not fighting about the dishes.
You're asking "do I matter to you?" in the only way that feels safe in the moment.
The fight is the audition. The role you're trying to get cast in is "person who counts."
And the scene keeps repeating until someone finally changes the script.

Ready to change yours? I work with couples in person in Denton. Link in bio to book.

Most couples don’t get stuck because they’re bad at communicating. They get stuck because they keep addressing the surface issue instead of what’s actually hurting underneath it. When the same conflict shows up again and again, it’s usually not a failure. It’s a signal that something important hasn’t been named yet. Beneath the tension there’s often a quieter concern about feeling unseen, unsafe, unappreciated, or afraid of being hurt again.

Talking more doesn’t always help when both nervous systems are already on high alert. What helps is slowing the cycle down enough to understand what each partner is protecting. The goal isn’t to win the argument or get it “right.” It’s to feel safe enough to stay connected while you work through what’s really going on.

Your exhaustion might not be about needing more rest (though you probably do). It might be about needing more purpose, more alignment, more of what actually matters to you.

Before you sleepwalk into another Monday, ask yourself:
✨What would you cut from your calendar if no one was watching?
✨ Which version of success are you chasing — yours or someone else’s?
✨What’s one “should” you could drop this week that would immediately lighten the load?

You don't need another productivity hack, you need to take small steps forward until you have a life that doesn't need them 💥
