We’re so thankful to have been apart of hosted by this past Saturday. Showing up in the community and weaving ourselves into the fabric that is Denton is such a special opportunity for us. We loved meeting new folks and seeing some old faces. Connection is community and we love when the opportunity to connect with folks presents itself. Thank you to everyone for allowing us to be apart of this event.

Positive reframing turns a negative thought or event into an opportunity for change, growth, transformation, and resilience. It's a learning opportunity rather than a catastrophe. Even simple statements when rooted in negativity can have a major impact on our mental health and perception of self. If we're always criticizing ourselves and talking about all the things we're NOT doing instead of focusing on what we are doing or what we can change then it can become really easy to dislike the person we see in the mirror. It can lead to feelings of failure or self doubt. Instead, ask yourself "What can I learn from this?", "How can I change this for the future?", "How does this make me a stronger version of me?" The mindset shift reduces the unhelpful or negative emotions and encourages self empowerment, focuses on solutions, and encourages change behavior rather than focusing on the problem. Give reframing a try and see how it changes your mindset and perception.

Are you feeling off? Do you feel like something is out of alignment but you can't quite put your finger on it ?Check in on your mental health. There are lots of things that can affect our mental health. Lack of sleep, food, water, support, self love, kindness. All of these things when running low can make our mental health vulnerable. If you're feeling "off" today, check in with yourself. Are your needs being met? If they're not ask yourself what you can change right now. Maybe drinking some water, eating a snack, or texting a friend is what you need right now. Take some time to engage in a mental health inventory. See where you're running low and see what can be changed in the immediate. Take note of any changes observed. What are you running low on?

Executive dysfunction is hard! One of the biggest challenges reported to us by our ADHD clients is ADHD Paralysis or "task paralysis". This monumental feeling of overwhelm when trying to start or complete tasks. To an outsider this behavior might look like laziness or willfulness but for a person with ADHD it's none of those things. Labeling this behavior as lazy or willful implies that someone can control how their brain works. In reality, folks with ADHD want to complete tasks, maintain the course, set goals but executive dysfunction is the struggle of brain based self-management. Most folks with ADHD will tell you how frustrating it is to feel constantly behind while also being overwhelmed by the idea of being "on top" of things. ADHD symptoms can be managed with the help of tools, therapy, and medication (for those that want it). Creating consistency is key to managing ADHD, while also finding ways to engage in lasting change. Being mindful that when we vier off course we can get right back on it. Remembering that if we do get off course it's not a failure because positive self-talk matters! Check out some of our tips and tricks for ADHD procrastination. Are you looking for support with your ADHD? Reach out to us at radiantcounseling.care and see if therapy is right for you! We'd love to work with you.

As we get older it becomes harder and harder to make friends, or so it seems. It's harder to build community, connection, and life long friendship. As you have long term partnerships and children become part of your story it can be even more isolating especially as a new parent. Now more than ever community is so important. We know finding and making friends can be intimidating and scary! It makes sense to question whether or not someone will like you, or if they'll think your "weird" but the end result of friendship can make all the discomfort worth it. Knowing that you have someone to reach out to when things are challenging or enjoy a meal with when the mood strikes you can be comforting and mood boosting. Friendships have been proven to give us self-confidence, help us manage adverse life experiences, and strengthen our communication skills. So, the next time you're feeling brave strike up a conversation with someone and see where it takes you. It may take a few tries before you feel brave enough to move into the friendship phase of things but that's ok! All good things take time.

This has been a long time coming! We are so excited to announce that we are officially contracted with Evernorth Health Services. In 2021 Cigna moved their behavioral health services to Evernorth. We've been patiently waiting to become official providers with Evernorth Health Services and we are officially there. At Radiant Counseling & Wellness Collective we strive to be as accessible to folks as possible. Adding Evernorth to our accepted insurances allows us to stay on our path of accessibility.
