One of the most important parts of choosing a birth center is understanding how care continues if plans change.

Being prepared for transfers is part of responsible, compassionate midwifery care. Our priority is always safety, communication, and making sure families feel supported through every decision.

Save this for later, or bring your questions to a tour. We’re always happy to talk it through.

“Normal” doesn’t mean untouchable, and it definitely doesn’t mean you have to stay quiet.

Your body is changing quickly. Curiosity is part of caring for it.

Asking questions doesn’t make you difficult, it makes your care better.

Save this for later, or share it with someone navigating pregnancy right now.

When baby drops, you might notice:
• More pelvic pressure or heaviness
• The infamous “waddle.”
• A little easier breathing (more room in your lungs).
• More frequent trips to the bathroom (yes, it's possible).

What to know:
Dropping doesn’t mean labor is starting right away. It just means your body and baby are getting closer to ready.

Many people are surprised to learn that unmedicated births aren’t always described as painful. More often, they are described as intense, powerful, and deeply physical.

There are proven ways people manage labor sensations without an epidural:
-Releasing fear and feeling safe lowers the body’s stress response.
- Moving freely helps the pelvis open and supports the baby’s descent.
- Warm water and heat reduce tension and create natural relief.
- Breathing, relaxation, and visualization calm the nervous system.
- Hands-on support, massage, and counter pressure ease discomfort.
- Tools like TENS units and aromatherapy support focus and comfort.
- A prepared partner can significantly impact how labor feels.

When the body feels supported, it often works more efficiently, and sensations become more manageable.

Save this if you’re exploring your options for birth.

Fifteen years ago, it started as a shared belief - that women deserved better care, deeper support, and a place that felt like home.

Some ideas change everything. CB&W was one of ours.

Here’s to aligned purpose, brave beginnings, and the people who walk beside you through it all. 🤍

Most people don’t realize how life-shaping the first hour after birth really is.

In that first hour:
• skin-to-skin stabilizes baby
• hormones support bonding
• feeding cues emerge naturally
• recovery begins more smoothly
• parents get a moment to breathe

Your beginning deserves calm.

Save this for when you’re planning your birth preferences.

There’s a huge difference between a provider who tolerates your wishes and one who truly supports them.

One leaves you questioning yourself. The other helps you feel safe, seen, and respected.

If you're not feeling supported in your care, many birth centers take low-risk transfers up to 32 weeks. There are still options.

A birth center isn’t just a place to give birth; it’s a wellness space built around how pregnancy and birth naturally unfold.

At a freestanding birth center, care is guided by principles of prevention, sensitivity, safety, and support. It’s family-centered: designed to honor pregnancy, labor, and birth as normal, healthy life events while keeping intervention only when medically necessary.

Here’s what that looks like in real life:
✨ A calm, home-like environment.
✨ Continuous supportive care throughout pregnancy and labor.
✨ Freedom to move, choose position, labor in water or with comfort tools.
✨ You as the primary decision-maker about your body and choices.
✨ Support beyond birth with breastfeeding help, postpartum follow-up, and connection once you’re home.

Birth centers support people who are low-risk and want care that feels personal, empowered, and rooted in trust.

If you’re curious about care that centers your strength and instinct, this perspective might be worth exploring.
