It’s a question I’ve been coming back to lately... ✨

As a nurse practitioner, my days are dedicated to the science of health— but these moments are the science of the soul.

From spinning in the Himalayas, carving through fresh powder, and dancing through sand dunes to the quiet awe of forests, full moons, and beach days with my dog, I’ve learned that true wellness isn’t just about what happens in a clinic. It’s about how much joy, wonder, and movement we can fit into one life.

My prescription for today:
1. Go where the air is thin and the trees are thick. 🏔️
2. Dance until your nervous system feels like it’s finally home. 💃
3. Never stop wandering. 🌋

Joy is a practice. Exploration is the medicine. 💫

A reminder as we move into the new year:
Health isn’t built in extremes. It’s built in small, consistent choices that actually fit your life.

This year doesn’t need pressure, punishment, or perfection.
It needs clarity, capacity, and compassion — especially for your nervous system, hormones, energy, and long-term health goals.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, that’s often a sign it’s time to simplify — not add more.

New year.
Gentle nudge.
Real progress.

Wisdom across traditions tends to agree on one thing: rest is not a reward — it’s part of the work.

Poets, Daoists, Buddhists, and Stoics all point us back to the same truth: nature moves in cycles, not constant acceleration. Winter is one of those cycles.

This season invites fewer demands, slower pacing, deeper listening, and intentional restraint — not because nothing is happening, but because something important is.

Which of these mantras do you need most right now?
Save this or share it with someone who needs the reminder.

Winter often gets framed as a problem to overcome.

But biologically and energetically, winter is a recalibration phase.

Lower light exposure shifts circadian rhythm.
Cold temperatures increase energy demands.
The nervous system becomes more sensitive to stress.

That means:
• motivation may dip
• sleep can feel off
• routines need more flexibility
• forcing change feels harder

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set intentions.

It means your intentions work better when they are:
• smaller
• slower
• repeatable
• designed to support regulation first

Winter isn’t asking you to grind harder.
It’s asking you to listen more closely.

When you align goals with the season instead of fighting it, progress becomes quieter — and more sustainable.

Less pressure.
More trust.
Longer-lasting change.

Happy New Year! This moment isn’t about rushing forward — it’s about understanding where we actually are.

Seasonally, we’re still in winter. Shorter days, less light, colder temperatures — all of this shifts circadian rhythm, energy, mood, and nervous system tone. Slower doesn’t mean stuck. It means your body is responding appropriately.

Energetically, we’re also in a transition — moving from the Year of the Snake toward the Year of the Horse.

The Snake is about shedding, integration, discernment, and intentional pacing.
The Horse is about momentum, stamina, and sustained forward movement.

We don’t skip the in-between.

This is a powerful time to reflect and set intentions — as long as they are:
• grounded in the season
• realistic and actionable
• oriented toward long-term health, not quick fixes

January isn’t for reinvention.
It’s for clarity.

Momentum comes later.

Did you know that for decades, the majority of “evidence-based” medical research was conducted almost exclusively on men? 📉

When we look at standard health advice—eat the same thing, do the same high-intensity workout, and maintain the same productivity every single day—we are looking at a male physiological model.

Men operate on a 24-hour hormonal clock. They reset every morning. But as women, we have an Infradian Rhythm—a complex, month-long cycle that dictates our energy, metabolism, and brain chemistry.

✨ Honoring Your Internal Compass

As a Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner, I’m here to tell you: You aren’t “inconsistent.” You’re cyclical. 🔄

Our hormones are often treated like a problem to be solved or a symptom to be suppressed. In reality, your hormones are your power. But to tap into that power, we must move away from the “same thing every day” hustle and learn to listen.

Why Cycle Syncing Changes Everything:
* Respecting the Shift: Understanding that your body needs different nutrients and different types of movement depending on where you are in your cycle.
* Physiological Protection: Avoiding the burnout and “mystery” fatigue that happens when we force a linear schedule onto a cyclical body.
* Empowered Health: Using your cycle as a vital sign to understand what your body actually needs, rather than what a generic plan says you should do.

It’s time to stop trying to fit into a mold that wasn’t built for your physiology. When you honor your rhythm, your body stops fighting you and starts working with you.

Let’s Reclaim Your Health.

DROP A 🌸 if you’ve ever felt like you “failed” a health plan because you couldn’t keep up the intensity every single day.

From Sick Care → to Whole Care
Most of our healthcare system is designed to wait until you’re already sick — then offer temporary fixes. But true health isn’t just about reacting to illness… it’s about preventing it. 🌿

✨ Integrative & Functional Primary Care looks deeper:
– Catching health issues early with advanced labs + screenings
– Supporting root causes like nutrition, stress, sleep, hormones & environment
– Creating customized prevention + wellness plans instead of one-size-fits-all prescriptions
– Blending holistic health practices with modern medicine for lasting results

At Encompass Care, I help patients shift from reactive “sick care” to proactive, personalized whole-person care.

Because your health deserves more than quick fixes — it deserves comprehensive, preventative care that supports your body, mind, and long-term wellbeing. 🌞

✨ 5 Things I Wish More People Knew About Primary Care ✨

Primary care isn’t just about getting an annual physical or managing illness when it shows up. Done right, it’s about whole-person, preventative, and integrative care that supports you every single day.

Here’s what I wish everyone knew ⬇️
1️⃣ You don’t have to wait until you’re “sick” to seek support.
2️⃣ Your symptoms aren’t “just in your head” — they’re signals.
3️⃣ A rushed 15-min visit shouldn’t be the norm.
4️⃣ Mental health is primary care.
5️⃣ You deserve a provider who listens, partners, and sees the full you.

At Encompasss, my integrative primary care approach means:
🌿 Looking at root causes, not just symptoms.
🧠 Connecting mental health, physical health, nutrition, and lifestyle.
🔬 Using advanced lab testing + functional medicine tools when needed.
💬 Creating space for real conversations and a partnership in your care.

With me, NP Natalie, your visits are longer, more personal, and centered around building health foundations — sleep, stress, digestion, movement, and connection — while tailoring support to your unique needs.

When done right, primary care can be powerful, personal, and preventative. That’s what I believe in, and that’s what you’ll find here. 💙

🧖‍♀️ Your Skin Is Talking… But Is Your Gut the One Speaking?

Breakouts. Rosacea. Dry patches. Eczema.

When your skin flares up, it’s often your gut waving a red flag. 🚩

Your gut and skin are *deeply* connected through the gut-skin axis. When your digestion is off or your microbiome is imbalanced, it can show up on your face — literally.

🔍 Common gut-related skin signs:
– Acne along the jawlin or cheeks
– Bloating or food sensitivities with recurring breakouts
– Eczema/psoriasis with IBS or constipation
– Dull, tired skin even with a “clean” routine

✨ Skin solutions often start from within:
– Address inflammation & leaky gut
– Balance your microbiome
– Support your liver (detox pathways!)
– Heal with food, not just topicals

Want clearer skin? Sometimes the answer isn’t skincare — it’s **stool testing.**

📬 Curious about GI Effects testing or gut support? Let’s chat. Link in bio for consults.

🌀 Fascia: The Forgotten Force Behind Pain + Posture

Tight hips? Nagging pain? That “stuck” feeling in your body?

It might not be your muscles — it might be your fascia 👀
This thin web of connective tissue wraps everything — muscles, bones, organs — and it holds onto stress, hydration, movement, and even emotions.

🔍 When fascia isn’t flowing, it can show up as:

– Chronic tightness or stiffness
– Postural imbalances
– Nervous system dysregulation
– Sluggish lymph flow + toxin buildup

✨ Want to support your fascia?

✔️ Foam rolling + fascia release
✔️ Staying hydrated (fascia loves water)
✔️ Yoga, stretching, gentle movement
✔️ Regulating your nervous system (fascia holds stress)

💬 Your body isn’t “tight” for no reason — it’s trying to talk to you.

📍At Encompass Care, we blend body-based healing with clinical care. Let’s reconnect you to your body.

🧠 Mental Health is Primary Care
📍 Your anxiety might be biological, not just emotional.

So many of us have been told to “just manage our stress” or “try to relax,” but what if your anxiety wasn’t just in your head? What if it was in your blood sugar, gut microbiome, or sleep cycles?

💡 Anxiety is often a downstream symptom of upstream imbalances — things like:
– Skipping meals or eating too many refined carbs
– Magnesium or B vitamin deficiencies
– Sleep deprivation or circadian rhythm disruption
– Gut-brain axis dysfunction or inflammation
– Caffeine or alcohol use that dysregulates your nervous system

These are all physical inputs with emotional consequences.

🧬 What we call “mental health” is deeply physiological — and needs to be treated as part of your whole-body health. That’s why I always look at mental health through a functional medicine lens.

✨ Pro tip:
If you notice your anxiety spikes around 3pm or right after meals, that jittery feeling might be your blood sugar talking, not your inner critic.

🍽️ Try adding more protein and healthy fats to your meals and see how your mind responds.
🛌 Prioritize consistent sleep.
💊 Replenish key nutrients like magnesium, B6, and zinc.

📍At Encompass Care, we treat the root, not just the symptoms.
Because your mental health is not separate from your physical health — it’s central.
