Our Thoughts on the Coronavirus
From us at Power-Up Performance

The purpose of this document is to explain to you as our clientele about what the corona virus is, the prevention of it, and some encouraging words for you as our lives are simply not normal right now. There will be updated information then as it comes forward.

Introduction:

In case you haven’t been fully informed about the virus, here is some information about it from the Center of Disease and Prevention (CDC)https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html ...While the info is summed up here, you can also click on the website in order to read some of the information yourself

-The coronavirus gets its “street name” because the make-up of the virus itself looks like the sun’s corona phenomenon present at certain eclipses

-The official name of the virus though has been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as COVID-19, which comes from its molecular make up

-The virus started from a meat market in the Wuhang province of China around December 30th. Experts believe that an animal here somehow transferred the virus to humans...While this virus is normally only received and transmitted among animals, it does have the possibility of being transferred to humans, and that is exactly what happened

-There is no immunization for the virus yet but top scientists around the world are working around the clock to make sure that a cure can be found...People do recover from the disease quite frequently
-Colorado has one drive-through testing site located near the Denver Convention Center...However, you must have a doctor’s note before you get tested there

-The country of China experienced its effects right away but it actually starting to slow down in its spread and recover more than two months later

-Symptoms of the virus include coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, etc...They appear 2 to 14 days after you have come into contact with someone who has the virus.

-If you have traveled overseas recently, you are more prone to the virus but it really can be transmitted in many ways

-Places such as China, Italy, and Iran have really taken a hit from the corona virus and Italy residents are not allowed to leave their homes except to use the grocery store

-If you are feeling symptoms, call the CDC first to ask for advice as the virus has limited hospital capabilities and is requesting that only emergency cases be treated at the moment. If you call your closest hospital, the hotline will direct you to talk with someone from CDC

Encouragement and Recommendations:

As everyone is aware, grocery stores are empty, toilet paper is out, and everyone’s lives and income have been impacted by this virus. It is normal to feel anxiety about the current state of things. Anxiety is a feeling of fear that dates back to when humans were first around...People in the early days responded to their surroundings based on either flight or fight responses. When our body sees a threat to our well-being, we do the same thing. This is normal and healthy for us because it helps us to survive. Try then to embrace your anxiety. Know that your fear is good for you because your body is wanting you to stay safe. However, anxiety can be managed when it is excessive or out of control.

-For today’s update, I found a good article on an example of a politician who is fighting for his people to get the resources he needs from the federal government...regardless of who is right or wrong in this debate, I found his words and passion for his people inspirational. Check it out.

-For today’s encouragement, think about these statistics…Social distancing is necessary and must be done to stop this virus, so don’t take these stats as an excuse to go out in public, but I found these stats to put everything into perspective.

According to Worldometers

-There are 330,491,640 people in America...and 68,203 people have had or currently have the coronavirus...this means that only .02% of America has received the virus...or 1 out of 500 people

-Additionally, there are about 5,696,000 people in Colorado and 1086 people have received the virus...meaning that additionally only .02% of Colorado has received the virus...or 1 out of 500 people
