Biological dentistry starts with one simple belief: your mouth is connected to everything.
When we choose materials, design treatment plans, and evaluate your health, we are looking at the whole picture, not just what is happening between your teeth.
These five reasons are why so many patients tell us they wish they had found this approach sooner.
Which one resonates most with you? DM us if you have questions about what biological dentistry could look like for you.

Most parents assume snoring in kids is just “a phase.” But snoring, mouth breathing, and teeth grinding at night are things worth paying attention to. They can sometimes point to something happening with the airway that deserves a closer look.

Not all amalgam removal is created equal.
If you have silver fillings and have been thinking about having them removed, the process matters just as much as the decision to remove them.
The SMART protocol, which stands for Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique, is a set of evidence-informed guidelines developed to minimize mercury v***r exposure during the removal process. It includes protective barriers for the patient, high-volume suction to capture particles, specific sectioning techniques, and a whole-body approach to care before, during, and after the procedure.
At Colorado Dental Wellness Center, we follow the SMART protocol because we believe the removal process should support your health, not add to your body’s burden.
If you’ve been curious about what safer amalgam removal actually looks like, this is a good place to start.

Airway Centric Dentistry looks beyond teeth. It focuses on how the mouth, jaw, and facial structures support a healthy airway and overall health.

When the airway is compromised, it can affect sleep, breathing, development, and long term wellness.

Airway focused care evaluates things like
• malocclusions and jaw development
• tongue ties
• anatomical restrictions affecting breathing

Treatment may include orthodontics, oral appliances, or collaboration with ENT and sleep specialists.

At our office we follow the SMART protocol to evaluate airway and breathing.

If you have questions about airway health, DM us anytime.

Most people think of the dentist as the place you go for cleanings and cavities. But there’s so much more your mouth can tell us.
Airway-centric dentistry is an approach that looks beyond teeth and gums, and considers how your airway health fits into the bigger picture. Things like snoring, mouth breathing, disrupted sleep, headaches, and blood pressure can sometimes be connected to what’s happening in your oral structure.
When we understand that relationship, we can start looking at the whole person, not just the teeth.
This is something worth knowing about. DM us with any questions.

Many people do not realize this.

Removing old silver fillings without proper protection can temporarily increase mercury exposure.

That is why safe removal protocols matter.

At our practice we follow the SMART protocol (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) to help minimize mercury exposure for both patients and our team.

This can be especially important for patients focused on detoxification, fertility, and whole body wellness.

Not all dentists remove amalgam fillings the same way. The protocol used can make a significant difference.

If you are considering replacing old fillings, make sure it is done safely.

Your health deserves that level of care.

There is nothing quite like a mom sharing her child’s story in her own words.
She noticed the little signs that so many parents are told are just “normal.” After starting the Bioblock and working through GOPEx and GOFex exercises consistently, she is seeing a real difference.
Better sleep. Better breathing. Better days.
This is why we do what we do.
If something in her story sounds familiar, DM us with any questions.

Something worth noticing today…
Where is your tongue resting right now?
Most people have never thought about this before, and that makes complete sense. Tongue posture isn’t something we’re taught in school or at routine checkups. But it turns out, it can play a pretty significant role in how we breathe, how we sleep, and even how the jaw and face develop over time, especially in children.
When the tongue rests low in the mouth or habitually pushes against the teeth, it can sometimes be connected to things like mouth breathing, crowded teeth, snoring, or waking up feeling like sleep just isn’t restoring you the way it should.
Myofunctional Therapy is one way to address this. It’s a bit like physical therapy for the muscles of the tongue, lips, and face, gradually retraining patterns that may have developed over years. Many people don’t even realize these patterns exist until someone takes the time to look a little closer.
It’s one of those things that once you learn about it, you start to see it everywhere.
💬 DM us with any questions, we’re always happy to chat.

You got 8 hours of sleep. So why are you still exhausted?
The answer is usually your airway.
When your airway is restricted during sleep, your body works hard all night just to breathe, even if you never fully wake up. That constant effort keeps your nervous system in a stress state, making deep, restorative sleep impossible.
Over time, that shows up as fatigue, brain fog, morning headaches, jaw tension, or teeth grinding.
Sleep quality isn’t just about hours. It’s about how well you breathe while you sleep. That’s why I look at the airway, jaw position, and tongue posture as part of every sleep evaluation.
Real rest starts with breathing.
If you recognize these signs in yourself or someone you love, this is worth exploring.

Better sleep starts with better habits, but sometimes habits alone aren’t enough.
These tips are a great foundation for anyone wanting to improve their sleep quality. And yet, so many of my patients follow every single one of these, and they still wake up exhausted, unrefreshed, and foggy.
Why? Because no sleep routine can fix an airway that’s struggling to stay open at night.
If you’re doing everything “right” and still not sleeping well, your airway may be the missing piece. Signs like snoring, teeth grinding, waking up with headaches, or needing to use the bathroom multiple times at night aren’t just inconveniences. They’re your body’s way of telling you something deeper is going on.
As a biological dentist who specializes in airway health, I look at sleep from a completely different angle than most providers. Your mouth, jaw, tongue posture, and breathing patterns all play a powerful role in how well you actually sleep.
Save this post as a reminder to start with these habits, and if they’re not enough, come see us for a comprehensive airway evaluation.
You deserve sleep that actually restores you. 💛
