Yesterday we shifted focus to WHAT vs How you eat.

Your invitation today is still about the WHAT and how it digests. As you take time to observe your meals today, pay attention to the combination of foods you are eating, take notice of any digestive imbalances and what food you consumed together.

Ayurveda has a whole list of incompatible food combinations. This week we will deep dive into what some of these are. The goal is to help you strengthen your digestion so you can experience more joy, ease, and vitality in your daily life.

40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge, join anytime!

The life in your food. Is your food dead? Or alive? What does that even mean???

I’m not talking about animal products. In Ayurveda there is the concept of Prana or the life force in your food. If you are new to the language of Yoga and Ayurveda, it’s important to note that there are many different definitions of the word Prana. When we are talking about the Prana in food, we are talking about the freshness of your food. In Ayurveda, when we reference dead food we are talking about processed food and leftovers. Raw food does have more Prana, however in Ayurveda we recommend warm freshly cooked foods to support digestion and nutrient absorption.

Today your invitation is to observe and notice. What are you eating? Is your food dead, according to the definition above? Or alive?

I often get asked “how much water do we need?” and my answer is always the same “it depends”. There are so many variables to consider when answering that without having more information.

One thing is true, there are many universal ways to use the wisdom of Ayurveda in your everyday life without needing to having an in-depth assessment and conversation with me.

Join anytime! Spring Mindful Eating Challenge, 40 day reset is in full swing.

DAY 6

Continue to bring more intention to HOW you eat. I promise we will spend plenty of time talking about WHAT to eat soon.

Your invitation today is all about the environment you eat your food in…. What can you see? Hear? Smell? Are you distracted on a device? Do you engage in conversation? Is it kind? Is it loud? What are you taking in through your eyes? Clean? Disorganized? Violence /news?

Practice creating a calm and quiet environment if possible for your meals. If that’s not possible let’s chat about ways to make this feel more accessible.

Our first week is almost complete!!! Tomorrow will be an opportunity to revisit and try on everything from this week. I’ll share a powerful list of inquiry questions. If you’d like to revive them, send me a DM and I’ll add you to the list. 🫶

Continue to practice what you’ve already tried on this week. Today your invitation is about chewing your food thoroughly before swallowing. Your bite will be almost liquid. Notice how fast or slow you typically eat? Do you taste your food? Or just shove it in your mouth as fast as possible before even finishing your last bite? How do you feel after you eat?

These are all opportunities to notice, build your awareness, and start to make impactful and supportive habit changes.

Today is DAY 4 of our 40 day Mindful Eating Challenge! Join anytime. This week we are focused on HOW we eat.

We will discuss more about WHAT we eat with an opportunity to join a community digestive reset and cleanse in May.

Today your invitation is to revisit the last 3 days and HABIT STACK.

Observe and notice how your food makes you feel.

Pause before you eat, look lovingly at your food and take 3 intentional breaths.

Sit for your entire meal, notice if you start to stand before you finish chewing and swallowing your last bite.

And remember, the only rule is that you have more compassion, love, and non-judgment for your self.

Today is day three. Join anytime. This week we are focused on HOW we eat. Encouraging more time for pause and enjoyment through food. Yesterday you were invited to take 3 intentional breaths before your meals. And perhaps some of you even tried on the bonus practice of looking lovingly at your food while you took your 3 breaths. How did it go? What was your experience like? Let me know!

Day Three

Your Invitation:

Sit for your meals, all the way through chewing and swallowing your last bite. Just notice today and continue to bring more awareness to HOW you eat. We will get more into ‘what to eat’ soon.

Did you know standing while eating activates the sympathetic (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) nervous system while sitting down activates the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. Try it on and notice how you digest your meal.
