Raise your hand if you’ve ever googled “why do I push people away” at 2AM 🙋‍♀️

Same.

Healing is messy, and sometimes it doesn’t look like yoga and matcha lattes. Sometimes it looks like ugly crying, relationship spirals, or feeling like a total fraud while trying to grow.

I’m [Your Name], a trauma and s*x therapist in Colorado—and I help people make sense of those big, messy emotions. With a mix of grounded skills, neuroscience, and a bit of humor, we work through shame, triggers, intimacy struggles, and the “what is wrong with me?” spiral.

Spoiler: There’s nothing wrong with you.

Stick around if you want real talk, gentle truths, therapy memes, and honest support.

Let’s talk about something that’s often misunderstood…

Your brain? It’s not broken. It’s actually doing its job—protecting you the best way it knows how.

As a trauma and s*x therapist, I see this every day. When you’ve lived through trauma, your nervous system can hold onto outdated “codes”—ways of reacting or withdrawing that helped you survive back then, but now get in the way.

The good news? You can rewire those patterns. Therapy can help you understand how your brain works for you, not against you.

I share nerdy tools, research-backed strategies, and honest insights for folks who want to feel more empowered and more connected—starting with understanding their own brain.

If you’re into science, healing, and real-life emotional tools, this page is for you.

Hi there, I’m Caroline Lee, a trauma and s*x therapist based in Colorado.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why do I keep feeling stuck even though I’ve tried so hard to move forward?”—you’re not alone. So many of us carry invisible wounds that impact how we feel, love, and live.

My approach is grounded in compassion, clarity, and real-world tools to help adults feel braver, more connected, and more equipped to create the life and relationships they deserve.

I’m here as a resource. If you’re ready for grounded, real conversations about healing, trauma, s*x, and self-worth—stick around. I’d love to connect with you.

Interested in attending group therapy? I have one group launching in January for females struggling with anxiety and their relationship with their moms. DM me for details!

Relationships with our parents can be difficult when we become adults. When you’ve had a toxic relationship with your mom, it can be really tough around the holidays. Consider using non defensive statements to shut down the typical pattern that you get into.
“That’s interesting”
“Oh really?”
“That topic is off limits”
“You’re entitled to your opinion and so am I”

All of these can be really helpful if you’re feeling criticized, judged or guilted by your mother, especially if that’s part of your pattern with her.

For adult daughters, I highly recommend Susan Forward’s book “Mothers Who Can’t Love”. The nondefensive statements in this post are from that book and there are others in there as well. The author also provides so much guidance and insight into this experience and I have found it to benefit many of my clients.

January 10 is the first meeting of the therapy group I am facilitating for women who struggle in their relationship with their mothers. Participants will learn how to set AND HOLD boundaries with their mothers. They will learn how to change their role in the pattern they have with their mother as well as learn key pieces to developing secure attachment with themselves. And much more…

If you think this group would help you, and you live in Colorado, please send me a dm for more information or email me at caroline@acaredforheart.com

The mother wound can really keep us in a place of anxiety, low self-worth, or perfectionism. With the holidays coming up, you might be trying to prepare yourself for being triggered by your mom, feeling overwhelmed by her criticism, lack of boundaries, etc. Maybe you are already replaying past experiences with her in your mind, or giving yourself a pep talk that this year will be different.
It’s a lot.

This is a space that I am so familiar with and have worked with many women, both as a coach and a therapist, to help them identify, process and heal their mother wound. It can be isolating work though for my clients. That’s why I’m launching a group therapy program in January 2023 to bring community to this work, and help more women address this issue.

If you are a female in Colorado and are ready to work on your mother wound, please DM me for details.

There’s something about this image that reminds me of the
Maybe it’s the mountain in the background that feels so far and so big - similar to what healing can feel like.
Maybe it’s the image of the female staring into the distance - is she wondering about who she really is? Worried that she’s not enough?
Maybe its just the dichotomy of color - that the world around this image is so colorful and bright but inside is just monochromatic darkness…

Whatever it is, it reminds me so much of the women I’ve worked with who have struggled with their mother wound. And struggled in isolation.

If you are tired of struggling with perfectionism, anxiety, self-worth, or whatever your mother wound has created, please consider joining my program for women. You’re not alone in this journey.
We will work on
-self worth
-secure attachment
-setting AND holding boundaries
-identity
And more…

If you’re interested and live in Colorado, please message me for details.
