Writing is a huge part of who I am as a human and it's not always easy to embrace all parts of oneself is it? I've been writing a newsletter for my clients for almost 2 years and felt that adding these to a blog was the next step. I'll be adding them throughout the coming weeks and if you feel compelled, I'd be honored if you stopped by and had a look!

As I sit to write this, the approaching holiday for the veneration of our ancestors’ approaches. For those who are not familiar, Halloween is the eve of the Day of the Dead that falls within the time of November 1st-2nd. This is a time when we see altars that have photos of family members who have...

It is easy to identify as a mother when you have a child or children that you are raising. Many women dream of becoming mothers; others are not so sure; and some of us are meant to give birth in other ways. We, as a species, forget that we can give birth so many times through out our lives - men included. This, of course, is metaphorical, and not in any way lessening the enormity of giving birth to a child or navigating the adoption process. It is an invitation to remember that even if we are already a mother to a child, we are always able to create space to birth creativity. We have unlimited access to tap into the creative consciousness and channel more beauty into the world. Many women can feel a sense of emptiness after their children grow and decide to go out on their own. They are then faced with the challenge of finding out who they are beyond “Mom”. This is a beautiful “rebirth” process, in itself, can be when a woman re-discovers a long-forgotten passion. It is when we are most vulnerable and raw that we can really begin to discover what makes us want to embrace life again. It can be something we have never even thought of trying before, or something that really scares us! This is where the transformation can really begin to take off, and we can become a nurturer to a dormant talent we were unaware of.

I have been exploring this is by reading more about Dharma. Dharma is your personal mission, or purpose, in life. This can change as we evolve. Often, we can find that the jobs we have are not our true Dharma. As individuals we can have a sense of what this might be, getting small glimpse of it every now and then. What do we naturally offer to the people around us and the world at large? Do you possess the ability to help people get out of a funk and see the bigger picture? Are you a natural teacher, guiding others with the wisdom you have cultivated though your own life lessons? Are you someone who can compassionately listen to others and make them feel seen and heard without judgement? The list goes on with examples of what makes each one of us unique in what we bring to the world.

The invitation for this month is to listen to your inner nurturer. Where can we be better listeners and better mothers to ourselves? How can we manifest and give birth to what our souls long to offer? It can sound gooey and corny, but I have found that when we start to truly listen and mother ourselves, those around us can benefit as well. I hope however and with whomever you celebrate this Mother’s Day, you do not forget to honor yourself, and of course our Mother Earth!

Ahhhh Spring!
It means something different for each of us, doesn't it? I am always on the look out for the budding of the trees. This invokes the feeling of new hope for me. Winter has passed, with all of her internal reflections and hermit energy, and we can now come in to the energy of the initiator! The astrological new year was on March 20th this year. This is when we can tap into what we want to bring into manifestation for the year ahead. This energy is still very potent and we can begin this process by taking the time to clear out our mental closets!

What I have found to be so effective is a daily breathwork practice. This can look different for each of us. There is such an abundance of resources out there that we all can find what is right and true for us. It took me many years to find a style of breathwork and meditation that spoke to my soul, and allowed me to start making major shifts in my life. I went from having an "every now and then" practice to "I practice every day and this is non-negotiable". Without this daily devotion, I would never have had the confidence to manifest HeartSeed. What I see now is that when we clear our energetic bodies (mental, emotional, spiritual), we make room for the first spark of inspired action. This is what propels us forward and out of the muddy swamp of complacency.

It can be as simple as five to ten minutes in the morning, before our beloved cup of coffee and checking our phones. We carve out the space for our well being, so that any chaos that may come after is so much easier to respond to. I have added a link below to 2 breathwork websites, but know that there are SOOO many to pick from. I hold each of you in my Heart and know that you will find what is right for you.

May we plant Seeds of unity, healing and love for this planet that has always supported us.

Meet the most interesting bone in the world: The Sphenoid Bone.
The surprising cause of headaches & migraines!

In a room of 50 people, you can ask how many suffer from headaches and you will usually get half of them raising their hands. This, then, conveys the misconception that headaches are normal. Headaches are not normal though - just very common. The truth is that there are many reasons someone may suffer from headaches. Not cutting our screen time off at a decent hour of night; maybe we work with computers all day; or the usual suspect: stress. The unknown culprit that could very well be the cause of headaches or migraines is the unfamiliar Sphenoid bone.

The Sphenoid bone makes up the floor of the sinus cavity and is right above your atlas bone. It is much bigger than a vertebra, and, in fact, it connects and touches every other cranial bone in your skull! The brain actually sits right on top of it. Above the brain, there is a space and if for any reason bones of the skull are compromised, they begin to lessen that space and cause unwanted pressure to the brain. This causes a buildup of cerebral spinal fluid, or CSF. This, in turn, begins to put pressure on the other cranial bones.

The sphenoid bone connects with the occiput, and their connection point is what is known as the SphenoBasilar (SBJ) junction. The SBJ can become dysfunctional from a myriad of life experiences:
• Trauma to the head (even if minor)
• Motor vehicle accidents
• Sports injuries
• Braces or dental work
• Any fall or accident
This can cause headaches, migraines, TMJD issues, sinus issues, neck pain, back pain, emotional imbalances (the sphenoid protects the pituitary gland), memory issues, depression, insomnia and other sleeping issues. It is not uncommon for the sphenoid bone to move out of alignment as a baby is exiting the birth canal. It is becoming more routine for parents to find a pediatric CranioSacral therapist to aid in aligning this bone for their baby’s overall health and wellness. If there is a lateral imbalance of this bone, this is where migraines come into play. The sphenoid will shift more to one side, and that is where the migraine will be felt. Our body’s innate response will be to rub our temple, this is because the sphenoid is putting more pressure on this side!

There are a few different ways to approach this issue. There are chiropractors who practice in a gentler way, who can assist in getting the sphenoid back to its rightful throne. At HeartSeed Massage, we utilize CranioSacral therapy (CST). If you do not know what CST is, it is a very gentle and non-invasive form of bodywork that uses light touch to help test for and then release restrictions throughout the body. We have had many successful sessions where we were able to help clear up or keep away headaches and migraines all together. If you suffer from these symptoms it is worth researching some more and seeing if a misaligned sphenoid bone could be the culprit! Always feel free to email or call us and we would be happy to see if we can help!

In the slow unwinding of our tissue, we can find not only physical, but emotional, mental and spiritual freedom. I have been asking myself recently, the questions I’m sure many of us have pondered of this past year. Why are such old traumas coming into my concious awareness right now? Why the is their the need to heal childhood wounds at this very moment? The answer may vary, seem simple, or quite complex. Listening deeply to the body is a journey. The whispers from our hips, asking us what is it that has been stuck in this region for so long? The call from our neck, inviting us to broaden narrow viewpoints, long outdated. Jaw tension, allowing us to understand that it is ok to speak our truth and be our most authentic selves, without fear of being told we are wrong. So much wisdom. So much to learn from the magic vessel we inhabit. I find that bringing my heads, with intention, to the area of my body that has been speaking to me and just asking “what do you need me to know, to feel?” has been so helpful. I hope y’all are taking care and being gentle with your beautiful souls🤍
