This Black History Month, we honor Kathleen Stanford Grant, a true pillar in the lineage of Pilates ✨

Kathleen was a pioneering, first-generation Pilates instructor and one of only two people officially certified by Joseph Pilates himself. Originally a dancer rehabilitating a knee injury, she went on to dedicate more than 50 years to preserving, teaching, and evolving the method - shaping generations of teachers and movers, including through her work at NYU.

Her legacy lives on every time we step onto a mat, connect breath to movement, and treat the body as an intelligent, adaptable system.
