🌟 Here’s this month’s last New Year Strength & Mobility tip from Renee! We hope you’ve enjoyed this series! 🌟

Slow reps build strong bodies. When you slow down your reps—especially on the way down—you increase muscle activation, improve control, and reduce your risk of injury. Try taking 3–4 seconds on the lowering phase of your squats, rows, or presses. Training in this way builds real strength instead of momentum and will make your workouts more effective, even if you use lighter weights.

Did you know we offer Tai Chi Classes?

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese exercise that combines relaxed, fluid movement with a calm alert mental state, and is ideal for increasing stamina, flexibility, postural control, coordination, and increasing leg and core strength. As a non-impact exercise it strengthens the body with minimal stress to the joints plus it has also been shown to improve memory, attention, and stress levels. The Tai Chi Fundamentals- Adapted Program was developed to make Yang Style Tai Chi more accessible for older adults and for those with pain and physical limitations.

Our classes are gentle, supportive, and designed to help you move confidently—no prior experience needed. Whether you’re looking to improve balance, reduce stress, or stay active in a safe way, Tai Chi may be a great fit for you.

🌟 Time for another New Year Strength & Mobility tip from our PT, Renee! 🌟

Your joints stay healthiest when they move often, not just during workouts. Try adding small mobility “snacks” throughout your day—30–60 seconds of neck rolls, ankle circles, cat–cow, or shoulder blade squeezes.

Why it helps:
✔️ Boosts circulation
✔️ Reduces stiffness
✔️ Keeps joints happy between training sessions

Little movements equal big wins for your body.
Keep it flowing! 🔄✨

"✨Provider Spotlight✨
Today we're featuring Natalie Ormond, PT, DPT who brings knowledge, heart, and amazing energy to our team everyday!

▪ How long have you been working at Blue Sky?
"I’ve worked at BSPT for 6 years minus 3 months of postpartum leave and 6 months of a Germany sabbatical with my husband and family. Hillary and Karen are the best boss ladies to work for!"

▪ What drew you to this career?
"At first it was that every clinic had a bed that I could nap on during lunch and then I thought about how I could really help people get back to living their lives with minimal symptoms with the right education and tools. The colleagues make the work place so fun to be in and the mental puzzles keep my brain occupied. In the past several years, I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of working with patients that have vestibular pathologies. They all present slightly differently and it is fascinating to see them come out of the survival patterns that the brain creates."

▪ What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
"I worked as a whitewater guide with my husband for a summer after our first year of marriage and I was a youth outdoor counselor for high school kids."

▪ What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled - or a place on your bucket list?
"Switzerland hit me squarely in the heart because it is the land that my father’s ancestry comes from. It had dramatic mountain vistas with small quaint villages dappling the valleys. It was filled with pristine bluish green water that fell from cliffs and wove between green meadows. We visited the Canton of Bern that the Barfuss family lived in and found a small metal workshop that sold cow and sheep bells. We found out that we were distantly related! Now when I have an urge to yodel and snack on cheese, I think of my Swiss heritage."

▪ Coffee or tea?
"A warm herbal tea with cinnamon and a fruit are my preferred types."

▪ Cats or dogs?
"Both with the right temperament- relaxed, gentle and quiet with friendly but not overbearing engagement."

🌟 We're back with another tip from our New Year Strength & Mobility series! 🌟

Strength isn’t just for athletes — it’s for aging well. 💪✨ As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and mobility — but strength training slows (and even reverses) that process. It's never too late to get started.

Blue Sky Physical Therapy can help you get there with personalized Private Exercise or you come try out our Strength Training classes!

🌟 Kicking off our New Year Strength & Mobility series, guided by our very own PT, Renee—your go-to expert for simple, effective ways to move and feel better! 🌟

Planning on skiing this winter? ⛷️ Unlock your hip mobility now with this exercise so you can carve smoother, ski longer, and stay injury-free on the mountain.
This is how: Sit on the ground with your knees bent in front of you wider than shoulder distance apart. Rotate one leg into internal rotation and the other into external rotation. Your thighs should be 90 degrees to each other, you can reposition the body to achieve this if needed. Move back to your starting position, then switch to the other side. Repeat the whole exercise for 1-2 min.

Give this exercise a try before your next day on the slopes!
