I just finished this fantastic book by If you want to learn more about how ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) impact our health and society at large I highly recommend reading The Deepest Well. We need to raise more awareness around ACEs and continue research in understanding the effects of toxic stress on the body. ACE screening should be apart of every health questionnaire. As someone with a high ACE score, I appreciate even more the vital journey I've been on in discovering what works best for me to handle stress, anxiety, depression and the events that shape our lives. Self-Care 24/7

Today is international self-care day. A reminder on July 24th that taking care of our badass selves is a lifetime process!
Our self-care plan changes with time. My self-care plan has evolved since the last time I posted this wheel.

The self-care components in the wheel starting at the top clockwise:

-Physical Movement
-Managing our self-medication, supplements, etc
-Knowledge of health literacy, managing health professionals
-Hygiene
-Environmental factors/living conditions
-Socio-Economic factor, communities where we live, cultural beliefs
-Mental wellbeing, self-awareness
-Nutrition

Take little steps each day to keep the wheel turning!

We manage our overall health through self-care/wellness plan. We each have a plan that changes over time. My self-care plan is different from last year at this time. The self-care components in the wheel starting at the top: movement, self-medication, managing our own health professionals, hygiene, environmental factors (living conditions), socio-economic factor / communities where we live, mind / cultural beliefs, nutrition. Take little steps each day to keep the wheel turning!
