Our bill to create more transparency and oversight into health care mergers and acquisitions (SB26-41) failed last week, ending in a 3-6 vote. Nonetheless, the fight continues to address major drivers of health care costs in Colorado.

Corporate consolidation must be checked as 90% of US hospital markets are highly consolidated, harming patients & communities.

We want to thank bill sponsors; Senator Cathy Kipp, Mike Weissman, Representative Kyle Brown, Representative Karen McCormick for their consumer advocacy.

Overall profit margins ranged from a high of 33% at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital to a low of -182% at CommonSpirit St. Francis-Interquest, which opened in Colorado Springs that year.
