Not too long ago, our Chief Operations Officer said, “If they can conquer the door, they’re through the biggest obstacle.” We couldn't agree more.

Today, SEVEN men had the willingness to make a life changing decision - they conquered the door and entered Step's program.

Introducing the new Deserving Dental van! They come to Step once a month to provide dental work to our residents. A few years ago, one of their hygienists found the early signs of oral cancer in a former resident, Dorne. Thanks to the early detection, he was able to extend his life. Throughout his battle with cancer, he never gave up his sobriety - or his hope. While Dorne recently passed away, his memory lives on in the lives of those he inspired while at Step, as well as the people from Deserving Dental who work hard to help residents like him. They even named their new van after him (pictured below).

Step Alumni Jose was recently promoted to General Manager of a Pizza Hut.

Last year, when asked what's helped Jose to find success, he shared, "I no longer think so much about what I've lost. I'm thinking about everything that I can gain if I just keep going, if I just keep moving forward."

Congratulations Jose, and thank you for sharing this win with us. Keep it up!

One of our sober home residents, Xavier, recently made the Vice President's List thanks to his achievements in his architecture program!

Xavier had this to say about his love for architecture:

"I feel like it's a good balance of all the things that I like - business, physics, math, and design.

We asked Xavier what role Step has played in his achievements and work ethic, and he shared:

"I feel like the network here is definitely huge, but I think it's more just the attitude that Step has been able to give me.

"That attitude of going and getting it - I think it's always been in me, but Step has definitely amplified that. The amount of stuff that I've been able to accomplish is just so much.

"And there's more to come for sure."

"You just have to want it."

A huge congratulations to Step Alumni Monty for picking up a huge three years of sobriety!

We recently asked Monty what about the Step program worked for him, and he shared:

"It was mainly just the people here. Seeing people on both sides of it - people who were successful, but also I think the bigger motivator was the people who weren't. I saw how easily that could have been me."

When asked what they key was to being successful at Step, Monty had this to say:

"At the beginning the rules seem overwhelming, but it's just common sense. Being kind, respectful, and cleaning up after yourself.

The program itself is not hard, what's hard is you."

The guys were treated to a Super Bowl party on Sunday! Despite the Broncos falling just short of the big game, the men still got to enjoy some good football - with even better food.
