One of our sober home residents, Xavier, recently made the Vice President's List thanks to his achievements in his architecture program!

Xavier had this to say about his love for architecture:

"I feel like it's a good balance of all the things that I like - business, physics, math, and design.

We asked Xavier what role Step has played in his achievements and work ethic, and he shared:

"I feel like the network here is definitely huge, but I think it's more just the attitude that Step has been able to give me.

"That attitude of going and getting it - I think it's always been in me, but Step has definitely amplified that. The amount of stuff that I've been able to accomplish is just so much.

"And there's more to come for sure."

"You just have to want it."

A huge congratulations to Step Alumni Monty for picking up a huge three years of sobriety!

We recently asked Monty what about the Step program worked for him, and he shared:

"It was mainly just the people here. Seeing people on both sides of it - people who were successful, but also I think the bigger motivator was the people who weren't. I saw how easily that could have been me."

When asked what they key was to being successful at Step, Monty had this to say:

"At the beginning the rules seem overwhelming, but it's just common sense. Being kind, respectful, and cleaning up after yourself.

The program itself is not hard, what's hard is you."

Sitting down with Step resident Travis who recently picked up one year, we got to hear about the strides he’s made in his recovery and career during his second time in the program:

“I definitely needed those eight months back out as a reminder of how bad it can really get for me, and thankfully I made it back. This time around, I’ve decided to go all in.

"The Recovery Support Managers have been nothing but fantastic so far with guiding me through the whole thing. This program offered me the stability and the structure to get to the point where I’m comfortable in my own skin.

"I chair the meeting here on Wednesdays, and people actually come to me now for advice on recovery. Currently I’m the Inventory Control Lead for a warehouse with about 7,000 products. In the 10 months that I’ve been working there, I’ve gotten about $7 in raises, so I think I'm doing something right. I feel like I'm finally stepping into who I should have been this whole time. I couldn’t be happier.”

A former resident reached out to us the other day to share how his experiences at Step changed his life:

"I felt motivated and understood the urgency of getting back up and into life and on its terms, through your thoughtfulness and kindness. Step, was part of the path, part of God's design for my life then. I just celebrated 8 months on the 23rd and plan to continue my goal of providing help and support to the communities of Denver."

Did you know Step Denver accepts vehicle donations?

Donating an unused vehicle directly supports the operational costs of our downtown Denver facility and our sober living homes. Each vehicle donation helps provide one man the opportunity to enter our program at no cost, allowing him to begin the challenging and life-changing work of rebuilding his life and overcoming addiction.

Our vehicle donation process is simple and hassle-free, with free towing and a tax deduction included. By donating, you’re not only freeing up space in your garage—you’re helping men access the support and stability they deserve.

To donate a vehicle, call 303-296-9020 or visit StepDenver.org today.

We wanted to take a second to give a HUGE thank you to the Denver Jaycees for choosing to support 12 men through our program with their generous donation! The Jaycees, formerly known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce, was founded with the goal of helping empower the next generation of leaders through community and leadership development.

The Denver Jaycees Community Development Trust was established in 1980 to support community projects in which The Denver Jaycees were involved. They decided that after 10 years without an active chapter of The Denver Jaycees, the trust should terminate and the funds be donated to community organizations in line with causes The Denver Jaycees would have typically supported.

They decided to support Step Denver, and we are incredibly grateful for this transformational gift.
