🚗 What Should Be in Your Emergency Car Kit? 🧰
With the mass casualty wreck in Pueblo today, our hearts are with everyone impacted. 💛 Events like this are a powerful reminder that accidents can happen in an instant, often due to factors outside your control such as distracted drivers 📱, speeding 🚙, dangerous weather 🌨️, or impaired driving 🍺. At LoHi Chiropractic, we want all of our patients and our community to know how to stay as safe and prepared as possible and to look out for one another. 🤝
Car accidents are disorienting. When shock sets in, it can be hard to think clearly. Having a well stocked emergency car kit helps protect your safety, your passengers, and your rights. ✅ Preparation is not about expecting the worst. It is about being responsible and ready to respond when it matters most.
Your emergency car kit should include a fully charged cell phone 📱, pen and paper 📝, your insurance card, emergency contacts ☎️, medical information including medications, allergies and conditions, and the name and number of a personal injury attorney ⚖️. You should also have a comprehensive first aid kit with assorted adhesive bandages 🩹, sterile gauze pads, adhesive cloth tape, triangular bandages, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment packets, hand sanitizer, tweezers, blunt nosed scissors or EMT shears ✂️, safety pins, a thermometer 🌡️, non latex gloves 🧤, a CPR breathing mask, an emergency blanket 🆘, pain relievers, antihistamines, burn cream or aloe vera, and an instant cold pack ❄️.
Essential add ons include a first aid instruction manual 📖, eyewash solution, hydrocortisone cream, and extra personal medications 💊. Vehicle specific safety items are just as important, including a flashlight with extra batteries 🔦, reflective warning triangles or flares 🚨, a seat belt cutter and window breaker tool, and a multi tool or utility knife.
Prepared people help protect others. If you are ever first on the scene, having these items could make a critical difference while waiting for emergency responders. 🙏
Please take a few minutes this week to build or check your emergency kit. Stay alert 👀 Stay prepared 🧰 And most importantly, look out for each other ❤️
