Diet plays a huge role in thyroid health. It's important not only to eat the right foods, but also to AVOID toxic ingredients. Today we're talking about what to avoid!
These substances can lead to oxidative damage and can leach great nutrients from the body.

❌ Processed foods like breads, pastas, cereals, frozen meals, and snack foods are generally lacking in nutrients and can even deplete the body of minerals and vitamins.

❌ Trans fats, fully hydrogenated, and partially hydrogenated oils cause inflammation in the body and interfere with communication between cells. These are commonly found in pre-made packaged foods and many restaurant foods.

❌ Vegetable oils and refined seeds oils like canola, corn, soybean, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower, and other cooking oils are chemical-filled and easily oxidized by light or heat. Many of these oils are oxidized during the manufacturing process before they’re ever bottled, and then they are packaged in clear plastic bottles for additional oxidation to occur before you buy them.

❌ Foods stored in plastic should also be minimized for your overall health, including your thyroid.

Stress plays a major role in disease processes - including all types of thyroid diseases. But what’s actually going on with chronic stress? Let’s first look at the stress process in the body.
Stress is great when you are truly facing a life-threatening emergency - fight or flight. But when it becomes a chronic condition, the stress response can go into overdrive, increasing circulating cortisol levels, even when you are relaxing or sleeping. There is evidence to support concerns that prolonged stress activation can cause an inflammatory response and raises the risk of autoimmune thyroid disorders.

Stress can suppress the release of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) from the pituitary gland, and decrease conversion of T4 (less active) to T3 (more active).
