To CMC’s Families, I became a pediatrician because of my pediatrician. Dr. Mary Margaret McLeod of Sanford, North Carolina, introduced me to medicine, and when I completed my first pediatric rotation in medical school, I knew I had found my way. The current government shutdown and reduction of SNAP benefits has a big effect on the kids of Colorado. In Denver alone, 30,000 children rely on SNAP benefits to eat. This directly affects our patient population, and so CMC will be implementing a pop-up food bank in our lobby. Starting October 1st, we will be offering Beyfortus, the RSV monoclonal antibody, in clinic. Here is what you need to know: RSV monoclonal antibody treatment is highly effective in preventing RSV-associated hospitalization in infants. Monoclonal antibodies are not vaccines. They do not activate the immune system. Rather, the antibodies themselves protect against disease.
