I know we’ve all been there; something funny happens and you “tweak” an ankle or other joint while doing an activity. It doesn’t feel serious at first and the thought “it can heal on its own” crosses your mind.

Then 2 months later there is now a nagging/annoying sensation or pain that “just won’t go away”.

Yes, our bodies are MADE to HEAL. AND. They require the proper environment to do so.

Rehab rule of thumb when it comes to pain is that the duration at which you’ve had it is likely the same amount of time to recover from it 👀

Maybe read that again.

Maybe get evaluated early on & have guidance of an expert to prevent long recoveries.

Our health is so important & one of the easiest things we throw to the side when urgency in our lives/careers occurs.

The Persistence Project is so much more than a side hustle (no shade to side hustles).

I left traditional outpatient PT clinics because I felt that YOU deserved more and I felt able to GIVE more.

This month isn’t just about celebrating strong women.
It’s about asking why so many strong women have had to fight to be heard in exam rooms.

I am pro-medicine. I am pro-research. I am pro-collaboration.

And I am also pro-doing better.✨

Too many women are told their pain is “normal.” (Btw Common DOES NOT equal normal)
Too many wait years for diagnoses.
Too many are handed coping strategies when what they need is investigation.

Pelvic pain is real.
Hormonal shifts are real.
Autoimmune flares are real.
Nervous system dysregulation is real.

And yes, different actions from medical providers and the individual can coexist.
You can advocate for further testing AND regulate your nervous system.
You can see a specialist AND do somatic work.
You can trust medicine AND expect it to evolve.

International Women’s Day (a few days late & doesn’t change the message) feels like the right day to say this:

You deserve to be believed.
You deserve comprehensive care.
You deserve providers who listen longer than they type.

Keep asking questions.
Keep documenting symptoms.
Keep advocating.

Women’s health is not niche medicine.
It is foundational medicine.

Our daily actions have massive impact long term.

Let’s try and slow down a bit when we’re using the bathroom & allow the body to do its thing without our timeline imposed

Chronic pain ≠ chronic illness.

Pain is a symptom lasting 3+ months.
Illness is a diagnosable condition requiring long-term care.

In the U.S.:
• 1 in 4 adults has chronic pain (CDC)
• 6 in 10 have at least one chronic disease (CDC, HHS)
• Women experience higher rates of chronic pain than men

They overlap.
They are not the same.

Precision in language leads to better care.

Your body adapts to what you repeat.

Not the one hard workout.
Not the one stressful day.
Not the one “bad” movement.

But the patterns.

Repeated tension becomes tightness.
Repeated avoidance becomes persistent pain.
Repeated overdoing becomes burnout.

And the inverse is also true.

Repeated breath builds regulation.
Repeated gentle loading builds resilience.
Repeated self-trust builds confidence.

Healing isn’t dramatic.
It’s directional.

If you want a different outcome, don’t overhaul your life.
Adjust the reps.
