Regular self-breast exams are important—and it’s not unusual to feel “lumps,” especially before your period. The best time to check is right after your period, when breast tissue is less tender. If you notice any of the following changes and they persist through your next cycle, it’s important to have a professional breast exam.

Breast lumps can feel different depending on what’s causing them. Some may feel soft and movable, while others may feel firmer or more irregular. Understanding these differences can help you stay aware of what’s normal for your body.
