Join me on Saturday March 13 from 4-6pm to celebrate the Spring Equinox with yoga and sound bath! 🙏🏼🎶

In honor of the yogic value of Seva, which means “service” in Sanskrit, I donate a portion of all of my yoga events to a nonprofit that supports human rights. This event will support the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.

The past few days have been heavy. But when I went to my “sit spot” today, I felt something release in my body. The anxiety and tension started to lift when I noticed 💜 rocks and heard the elk and felt the wind. My shoulders went back to their normal position.

This moment of regulation reenergized me to continue to take action and think of creative ways to support my community (Stay tuned for upcoming Seva offerings that support local nonprofit!)

Regulate. Resist. Find beauty and love and hope. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Great solo ride yesterday… lots of time to think and process all of the change that has happened over the past 2 years.

I love how much stuff comes to the surface when my body is in motion.

Still working through this “midlife unraveling” and what path I want to travel on the next part of my journey.

Life is a wild ride. Excited to see where I’m going. 🚵🏽‍♀️

Using this time outside to process something that happened today…

I was sharing a conversation that I had with my daughter this weekend and my coworker’s response was “You’re a lot nicer than I am! I would have started showing my daughter photos of starving kids in other countries to show her that she doesn’t have it so bad!”

I wasn’t sure why this comment bothered me so much but as I was walking, I got some insight.

First- this comment felt shaming… because it had a “you didn’t say the right thing” feel to it. Why do we feel the need to judge how other parents parent? I wasn’t asking or looking for advice, but rather sharing a conversation I found amusing.

2) I don’t want to discount my daughter’s feelings or experience just because it’s “not as bad” as someone else’s. Comparative suffering can minimize our experience and lead to stuffing our feelings away. I’m the long run, this can cause our “empathy bank” to run dry.

I know we are privileged in a gazillion ways and plan to provide my daughter with experiences to help her understand this.

AND I plan to guide her through her own emotions so she is allowed to feel and process them.

Today was a good reminder that we need BOTH in our lives: feel the feels AND remember how much we have to be thankful for. 💜

Inspired by my podcast with last week, I have committed to spending at least 20 minutes outside every day.

And Colorado is making it easy right now… 70 degrees and yellow leaves still on the trees! 🍂

Check out last week’s episode of the Lessons from the MAP podcast… I bet you’ll be inspired to get outside everyday too!

Anyone else feeling grumpy recently?! 🙋🏻‍♀️

This week has been hard. My mom left on Monday, I had a headache for 3 days straight, and I was annoyed with everyone… even the dog.

I tried all the usual things… thinking about what I’m thankful for, deep breaths, talking to a good friend.

None of it was working.

Then I forced my daughter to go on a walk with me. And I remembered the power of being present in nature. 🍁🌿🍂

I was able to enjoy the leaves and we even encountered a couple deer.

So in case you need the reminder to put down your phone and GO OUTSIDE… here it is. 😘

THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY 🤔

Every week, I continue the tradition started by and share a quote and writing prompt on the Thursday morning announcements .

My hope is to get the students thinking about different life lessons… today was a discussion about how to respond instead of react.

So I’ll share my prompt with you too!

We all have challenging situations in our lives, and we can respond in helpful or unhelpful ways when challenges arise.

So as you think about how you want to respond to hard situations, ask yourself:

“What is one strategy I can use to respond in a helpful way?”

For me; it’s taking a pause and a few breaths so I can think clearly and creatively.

I would love to hear yours! Share in the comments below! 💜
