Gold prices are at an all-time high. I took some of my unused gold to my favorite Denver jewelry store, Love Saro, and they paid me for the gold so that I could get some new permanent custom bracelets made.

I’m Jill, and this is GrownupDish.
I’m Generation Jones. Too young to be a Boomer, too old to go viral for the right reasons. We grew up on rotary phones and figured out adulthood on our own. Now we’re supposed to understand AI. Sure.
I’m here for easy food, real product reviews, and the kind of humor that comes from having actual life experience.

If dancing barefoot in the park with my dog is wrong, I don’t want to be right. So grateful we found the Joy Set community in Denver.

Your serum doesn’t care how much it cost. If you’re not sealing it in, it’s going straight into your pillowcase overnight.
The Laka Skin Wrapping Mask goes on last, locks everything in, and doesn’t clog your pores. Ceramides, astaxanthin, dual PDRN. Lightweight and breathable.
You’ll wake up so glowy people will think you slept in your skincare. You did not. That’s just your face now.

If you love lasagne but not the time it takes to prepare it, you have to try sheet pan lasagne. This spin on traditional lasagne is easy (no tedious layering required) with less mess but it tastes amazing.

If you were a Gen Jones guy born 1954 - 1965), your childhood had one rule: be home by dinner. No tracking apps. No scheduled playdates. Just a Schwinn, a best friend, and whatever you could figure out on your own.

You swore you’d do things differently than your dad. Then the mortgage showed up and you did exactly what he did, because bills don’t care about your inner child.

You grew up before anyone knew what “processing emotions” meant. You had a basketball hoop and a driveway and that was the therapy.

Follow for more made for the generation stuck between the Boomers and Gen X.

Welcome!

Hey new friends! There are a LOT of new faces on this page so I wanted to say welcome and I'm so glad that you are here. Shall we share some fun facts so that we can get to know each other?

1. I'm Jill and I live in Denver, CO with my husband Paul. I grew up in Florida but after spending 20+ years in Ohio (before moving to CO), I consider myself a midwest girl. 2. I started grownupdish.com in May 2018 because I didn't see much representation of people my (our?) age in the food and health/wellness space. I want to change that! Thanks for following me, and if you like what you see, please tell your friends. 3. I believe in eating REAL food. I try to eat a lower carb, Paleo-ish diet with lots of veggies but I do not eat clean 100% of the time. I do try to cook as much as possible and focus on eating unprocessed food that my body can recognize. 4. I adore Graeters ice cream. I don't like bananas. And bell peppers don't like me. Other than that, I'm up for trying almost anything. The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was kangaroo meat (when I was in Australia.) 5. I have more interests than time. I love going to the movies, cooking, reading, dancing, gardening, knitting, memory keeping, photography, traveling and MORE. I thought that when I stopped working full time I'd have more time to pursue my many hobbies, but I'm finding that I'm busier than ever. How does that happen?

One final thought ... I'm doing my best to keep it real. Everyone has "stuff" going on despite the perfectly curated moments you see on social media. Life isn't all smiles and happy cooking videos. But I believe that having a positive attitude, good friends and a healthy sense of humor will help us navigate whatever life throws at us.

Now that I've spilled it, it's YOUR turn. Tell me something about you in the comments ... pretty please.
