Recent research from AIDPH indicated students reported feeling unprepared to treat the unique oral health needs of LGBTQIA+ patients due to the lack of training and clinical instruction related to gender identity, sexual orientation, and affirming communication practices in clinical settings. NNOHA, alongside Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors - ASTDD and American Association of Public Health Dentistry- AAPHD, has issued a Call to Action urging the philanthropic community to step forward in response to recent federal cuts to oral health programs. These changes jeopardize decades of progress in prevention, workforce development, and equitable access. NNOHA remains committed to supporting our members and the health centers they serve, ensuring the voices of safety-net providers are elevated in this critical moment.

Together, we can protect progress and accelerate innovative solutions for oral health as part of overall health.
