🌸 A meaningful return to a place of remembrance.

Today, Connie Segura’s son Michael visited the courtyard at The Denver Hospice while the cherry blossom tree planted in Connie’s memory is in full bloom. The tree, located in the west courtyard of our Inpatient Care Unit, was planted as a tribute to Connie and the care she received.

Michael stopped by to take photos beside the blooming tree—an enduring reminder of love, remembrance, and the impact of compassionate hospice care. He was joined by members of our team, including President Ben Marcantonio and Care Synergy Chief Operating Officer Tricia Ford.

Moments like these remind us that the connections formed through hospice care continue long after a patient’s time with us.

🌸 Connie’s tree stands as a living tribute to her legacy and the love her family carries forward.

Chag Sameach and Happy Passover from all of us at The Denver Hospice.

Since our founding in 1978 by Jewish oncology nurse Carolyn Jaffe, we have been honored to care for individuals and families of the Jewish faith. As we celebrate Passover—a time of reflection, freedom, and tradition—we recognize the importance of honoring each person’s beliefs, values, and customs.

We are proud to be accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice and remain the only provider in Colorado with this distinction.

As a mission-driven, nonprofit hospice, we are committed to caring for every patient in a way that respects their religious traditions and personal wishes.

Wishing peace, comfort, and meaningful time with loved ones to all who celebrate. ✡️

Sometimes the most important thing a physician can offer is not a cure—but comfort, clarity, and compassion.

A conversation that helps a family understand their options.
A plan that ensures a patient’s wishes are honored.
A presence that brings reassurance in difficult moments.

These are the gifts physicians bring every day at The Denver Hospice.

This National Doctors' Day, we honor the doctors who guide patients and families with empathy, expertise, and deep respect for what matters most.

Thank you for the extraordinary care you provide.

A Community’s Kindness Comes Full Circle

Last year, Jack Prosky’s wife received hospice care from The Denver Hospice. During an incredibly difficult time, our team was honored to support their family with compassionate care and guidance.

Recently, he returned—not for support, but to give back.

Moved by the care his wife received, he organized a Poker Run fundraiser, bringing together friends, neighbors, and fellow riders to raise funds in support of hospice care. Thanks to his efforts and the generosity of the community, he presented a generous donation to help ensure other families can receive the same compassionate support.

We are deeply grateful for his kindness and for everyone who contributed. Gifts like these help ensure that hospice care remains available to those who need it—when they need it most.

Thank you, Jack, for turning gratitude into action and helping us continue our mission of comfort, dignity, and compassionate care.

🕯️ Last night, we gathered in remembrance.

The Denver Hospice hosted a beautiful Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony, bringing together families, friends, and community members to honor loved ones who have passed.

Together, we shared a quiet space for reflection through the reading of names, meaningful photo displays, and a candlelight ritual that illuminated the room with love and memory. Each flame represented a life remembered and the enduring connection we carry with those we have lost.

Grief can feel lonely, but moments like these remind us that we are not alone. Thank you to everyone who joined us to remember, reflect, and celebrate the lives that continue to shape our hearts. đź’™

On a snowy Friday, a group gathered at The Denver Hospice to create art and explore their grief together.

Our Creative Art Group is a six-week support group for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Through painting, drawing, collage, and other creative activities, participants can express feelings that are often difficult to put into words. Art can open a gentle pathway to memories, emotions, and healing.

No previous art experience or talent is needed. The focus is not on the final piece, but on the process of reflection, expression, and connection with others who understand the journey of grief.

We are grateful for everyone who joined us and for the courage it takes to show up and share in this way.

Research shows that while most Americans say end-of-life planning is important, only 24% have actually documented their wishes.

That gap matters.

Without clear documentation, families are often left to make difficult decisions during moments of crisis—unsure of what their loved one would have wanted. Advance directives and other end-of-life planning documents give individuals a voice, even when they cannot speak for themselves.

Taking time to put your wishes in writing is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your family. It reduces stress, prevents confusion, and helps ensure the care you receive reflects your values and priorities.

Starting the conversation today can bring clarity and peace of mind for tomorrow.

Team spirit was on full display yesterday afternoon as Care Synergy and The Denver Hospice hosted a football tailgate party. Colleagues came together to enjoy a potluck lunch, test their knowledge with Super Bowl trivia, and share plenty of laughs as we get ready for the big game this weekend.

Events like this highlight what makes our workplace special: strong connections, shared experiences, and a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great event.

Our Story

To ensure the most compassionate and appropriate services possible, we provide care wherever the individual resides—in one’s own home, a skilled care facility, assisted living facility, group home or The Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center at Lowry. Whatever the setting, our goal is the same: to improve the quality of life of those we serve by addressing their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs.

Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center at Lowry has 24 suites with patios.
