🕯️ Last night, we gathered in remembrance.

The Denver Hospice hosted a beautiful Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony, bringing together families, friends, and community members to honor loved ones who have passed.

Together, we shared a quiet space for reflection through the reading of names, meaningful photo displays, and a candlelight ritual that illuminated the room with love and memory. Each flame represented a life remembered and the enduring connection we carry with those we have lost.

Grief can feel lonely, but moments like these remind us that we are not alone. Thank you to everyone who joined us to remember, reflect, and celebrate the lives that continue to shape our hearts. 💙

March is National Social Work Month, and today we celebrate the dedicated social workers at The Denver Hospice.

Social workers are at the heart of the care we provide, helping patients and families feel supported, heard, and understood. Their advocacy, compassion, and guidance help ensure every patient receives care that honors their wishes and preserves dignity.

On a snowy Friday, a group gathered at The Denver Hospice to create art and explore their grief together.

Our Creative Art Group is a six-week support group for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Through painting, drawing, collage, and other creative activities, participants can express feelings that are often difficult to put into words. Art can open a gentle pathway to memories, emotions, and healing.

No previous art experience or talent is needed. The focus is not on the final piece, but on the process of reflection, expression, and connection with others who understand the journey of grief.

We are grateful for everyone who joined us and for the courage it takes to show up and share in this way.

Research shows that while most Americans say end-of-life planning is important, only 24% have actually documented their wishes.

That gap matters.

Without clear documentation, families are often left to make difficult decisions during moments of crisis—unsure of what their loved one would have wanted. Advance directives and other end-of-life planning documents give individuals a voice, even when they cannot speak for themselves.

Taking time to put your wishes in writing is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your family. It reduces stress, prevents confusion, and helps ensure the care you receive reflects your values and priorities.

Starting the conversation today can bring clarity and peace of mind for tomorrow.

Team spirit was on full display yesterday afternoon as Care Synergy and The Denver Hospice hosted a football tailgate party. Colleagues came together to enjoy a potluck lunch, test their knowledge with Super Bowl trivia, and share plenty of laughs as we get ready for the big game this weekend.

Events like this highlight what makes our workplace special: strong connections, shared experiences, and a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great event.

We’re excited to welcome Julienne (Julie) Bemski, DO as the new Medical Director of The Denver Hospice. Julie started her new position January 20, 2026.

“Julie brings both clinical excellence and a deeply human approach to care,” said Ben Marcantonio, President of The Denver Hospice. “She understands that hospice care is about dignity, compassion, and being present when it matters most.”

“I’m honored to join an organization so deeply committed to supporting patients and families,” Dr. Bemski shared. “Providing comfort and compassionate care during serious illness is a responsibility I hold close to my heart.”

Outside of work, Julie enjoys hiking Colorado’s trails with her father and dog and spending time with her husband and young son.

The spirit of giving was on full display this holiday season thanks to the generosity of employees from Care Synergy, The Denver Hospice, and Colorado Visiting Nurse Association. Through employee-led efforts, teams organized a toy drive, a clothing drive, a blood drive, and delivered all the fixings for a holiday meal to families and patients in need. Giving back is at the heart of who we are, and this season made that clear.
