Colorado Community Health Network

Colorado Community Health Network Colorado Community Health Network (CCHN) is the unified voice for Colorado’s 20 Community Health C

Since its inception in 1982, CCHN has made significant strides in ensuring that Colorado's low-income residents have access to affordable, high-quality primary health care. CCHN is committed to 1) educating policy makers and stakeholders about the unique needs of Community Health Centers (CHCs) and their patients, 2) providing resources to ensure that CHCs are strong organizations, and 3) supporting CHCs in maintaining the highest quality care.

“Medicaid is a commitment we’ve made to one another, not a burden. To address Colorado’s budget crisis, we must shift our focus to the real culprit behind our budget issues.”

Thank you, Lydia McCoy, CEO of Colorado Center on Law and Policy for giving a broader perspective on Colorado’s budget crisis, and defending Medicaid for the Coloradans who rely on it most.

Medicaid is not a burden. To address Colorado’s budget crisis, we must shift our focus to the real culprit behind our budget issues.

CCHN is proud to participate in a coalition of hospitals, physicians, health plans, behavioral-health providers, rural leaders and consumer advocates in Colorado who are working together to provide a clear message about the future of health care in our state: “we must move toward a model built on collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility.”

Two of the coalitions’ members, Jeff Tieman at the Colorado Hospital Association and Julie Reiskin at the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, wrote an op-ed in Colorado Politics outlining some of our concerns:

By Jeff Tieman and Julie Reiskin Colorado is careening toward a health care disaster, and unless we change course now, too many of our neighbors will bear the cost — in dollars, in well-being and in lives. Colorado’s health care system isn’t just dysfunctional, it’s teetering on collapse. In...

In the past few years, Community Health Centers saw a 29% increase of uninsured patients, despite statewide data that shows the number of uninsured Coloradans has stayed statistically steady.

Colorado Community Health Network was excited to award ten state legislators for their work in advancing Community Health Center priorities in the 2025 legislative session. These awards were offered at CHCs throughout the summer.

Last week, at Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc., it was an honor to present Cleave Simpson Colorado State Senator District 6 with the CHC Champion Award for his leadership on HB25-1288, which will open up new revenue opportunities for CHCs, and his advocacy for increased funding to the Primary Care Fund, which ensured that the legislature would take action to help protect and invest in CHCs.

We are so grateful for Sen. Cleave Simpson’s willingness to champion our cause of ensuring access to accessible, high quality health care, in the midst of a state and federal budget crisis.

“Community Health Centers serving low-income Coloradans will face a reckoning if the government shutdown goes on too long — but right now, they can’t be sure when ‘too long’ will be.”

A long shutdown could also jeopardize other programs supporting health centers, such as loan repayment for doctors working in underserved areas.

Colorado Community Health Network is excited to award ten state legislators for their work in advancing Community Health Center priorities in the 2025 legislative session. These awards will be offered at CHCs throughout the summer.

Last week, at PrimeHealth+ formerly MarillacHealth, we were honored to present Representative Rick Taggart and Senator Janice Rich with a Community Health Center Supporter Award for their leadership in passing SB25-071. This bill safeguards CHCs' ability to continue providing discounted medications to our patients by protecting against discriminatory pharmaceutical manufacturer practices.

We thank the legislators for their support of the mission of CHCs to provide accessible, high quality health care.
