As we anxiously await our next milestone at the birth center, we're looking back on BCD Baby 700, Eliza, whom we welcomed earlier this year! 🎉 💗

Eliza's parents, Tania & Manuel, shared some of their thoughts…“My experience at the Birth Center of Denver was wonderful. Taking the birthing classes beforehand helped immensely during labor. I felt equipped with the tools needed to have a smooth and peaceful delivery. My midwives listened to my needs and were helpful and supportive. Immediately after birth, I was able to enjoy golden hour with my baby and begin bonding. My experience at BCD was one of safety, confidence, peace and love!”

Thank you to all the pregnancy and parenting professionals who joined us for the BCD Open House this week! It was a fun evening filled with networking, connecting, and sharing what makes Birth Center of Denver such a special place. From learning more about CenteringPregnancy group prenatal care to guided tours of our birth suites and services, it was wonderful to meet new faces and reconnect with familiar ones in our community! We loved sharing Birth Center of Denver with you! ❤️

Would you like to learn more about Denver’s first and only hospital-owned freestanding birth center? You are invited to join team members from Birth Center of Denver (BCD) for a casual afternoon Meet & Mingle on Wednesday, March 12th from 2-4 PM, hosted at Birth Center of Denver.

This is a chance to meet some of the BCD team, tour the birth center, learn about what makes BCD a special and unique birth setting, and connect with other likeminded out-of-hospital care providers. This event is open to any and all Denver area pregnancy/parenting related professionals - doulas, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, lactation support, physical therapists, photographers, art therapists and more.

RSVP is encouraged but not required. We hope to see you there!

BCD will be hosting several community events in the coming months, so keep an eye out for future invites! If you are planning on attending, or if you are unable to attend our first Meet & Mingle but would still like to connect, click the link in our bio to share some information with us about you!

Thank you, Nikki, for all that you have done for our BCD team and families! It is with mixed emotions that we announce Nikki is leaving BCD to pursue other opportunities outside of Intermountain Health. Nikki has been at Saint Joe’s for 17 years, with the last 6 years at BCD. Nikki has been part of the BCD team right from the start, and has brought so much heart and spirit throughout the years! ❤️🎉 There have been so many wonderful memories we have all shared with her and we will miss her! Stop by and join us on Friday, January 31st between 11am-1pm for a little celebration with Nikki! Or share a picture or favorite memory of Nikki in the comments below.

BCD Families and our BCD Community!
Please join us in celebrating our Clinical Director Christie Bryant, CNM, FACNM on her retirement! We will be celebrating Christie and her 21 years of service at Saint Joseph Hospital and Birth Center of Denver on Wednesday, Nov 13th from 3-6pm. Please stop by BCD to celebrate Christie! If you can’t attend, please leave some comments, memories and pictures for Christie! ❤️

Christie became a certified nurse-midwife in 1994. She joined the Saint Joe’s team in 2003 and is one of the original founding CNMs who started the Certified Nurse-Midwives clinic in Midtown in 2003. Christie worked to help build up the CNM practice over many years and also began working in OB Triage at Saint Joe’s when it opened in 2008. In 2018, Christie was selected as the Clinical Director of Birth Center of Denver and was integral in helping us establish Colorado’s first hospital-owned freestanding birth center. Through her leadership as the Clinical Director, she helped to design and build a strong clinical foundation for the birth center rooted in high quality and safety, and ensuring BCD stayed true to the freestanding birth center model of care. Christie’s interests are focused on the leadership and the business of midwifery.

Christie gave birth to her first child and had an amazing and skillful RN who supported her and also happened to be in midwifery school. That’s when she knew she wanted to be a certified nurse-midwife. Prior to midwifery school, she became a doula where she found her love and appreciation for the birthing process.

Christie shared, “I want to always encourage women to advocate for the experience that they want. I love the process that families go through to become parents and anything that I can do to make that a wonderful, loving experience is alright with me.”

When she is not at work, Christie enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. She loves to babysit her grandkids and is thankful that she gets to spend time with both her immediate and extended family. She also co-owns an antique store with one of her sisters.

BCD Families - Come join us TOMORROW! This week during postpartum support group, we are having our pelvic floor therapists from Saint Joe's come and chat with us about some expected (and unexpected!) postpartum pelvic floor related symptoms, what to do about them, and to answer questions about all things pelvic floor. This will happen on NOVEMBER 7th also from 9:30-11, so mark your calendars! There will also be time for our normal support group activities like weighing babies, chatting about new concerns from the week and swapping tips and tricks. See you there!
