Community partnership in action. šŸ’™

Students from Arrupe Jesuit High School visited Mount Saint Vincent on Friday to help refresh campus spaces ahead of summer for the children we serve.

Student volunteers helped clean up our school garden area, just in time for summer, and removed carpet squares in the last classroom that will be updated this coming year! We ended the day with a tour, sharing the history and impact Mount Saint Vincent has had on Colorado's children over the last 143 years.

Their time, energy and generosity help create welcoming spaces where students can learn, grow and enjoy the season ahead. We’re grateful for community partners like Arrupe Jesuit High School who make a meaningful difference.

When caregivers across Intermountain Health come together to share knowledge and support one another, the impact reaches far beyond a single moment. Recently, Brad Lehmann from Intermountain Platte Valley Hospital partnered with Mount Saint Vincent caregivers Molly Madaras and Dan Hines to strengthen on-site Basic Life Support (BLS) education at Mount Saint Vincent.

Together, Brad, Molly, and Dan helped build confidence, strengthen emergency preparedness, and support a culture of safety for the children and families served every day. By creating internal instructor capacity, Mount Saint Vincent is building a sustainable model for ongoing education and continued excellence in care.

When caregivers invest in learning, teamwork, and one another, everyone benefits. That’s the Power of We. šŸ’™

As a state-certified school, participating in the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) is one of the many ways we uphold high academic standards and support student growth. These assessments help measure progress in subjects like math, English language arts, science, and social studies while highlighting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We’re proud of our students for their focus, perseverance, and dedication. You’ve got this! šŸ’›

Prevention starts with all of us. By supporting families, building strong communities, and speaking up, we can help ensure every child feels safe, seen, and supported.

Last week, our Mount Saint Vincent team attended the Colorado Association for Play Therapy Conference, strengthening our understanding of the power of play.

Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate, evidence‑based approach that helps children express emotions, process experiences, and heal when words aren’t enough. At Mount Saint Vincent, play therapy is an essential part of how we support children’s emotional growth, resilience, and sense of safety every day.

We’re grateful for opportunities to keep learning and bringing best practices back to the children and families we serve.

About Mount Saint Vincent

Mount Saint Vincent was founded on February 15, 1883 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. In the spirit of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Mount Saint Vincent strengthens the abilities of families and children to emotionally and socially participate in the community, making life better for generations to come. Committed to providing compassionate care, we strive to produce positive, life changing results.

Mount Saint Vincent is a Denver, Colorado-based treatment center for children aged 5 to 12 who face severe behavioral and emotional challenges due to trauma, mental illness, abuse, or neglect. We specialize in delivering behavioral health services to children and their families, helping children reach their full potential within their homes, schools, and communities. At Mount Saint Vincent, our approach to care is based upon the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, a trauma-informed model that builds upon a child’s strengths. For more than 45 years, we have helped hundreds of children improve their functioning, unlocking their potential to succeed. We are child-focused but also family-centered, believing that building on individual and family strengths results in happy children and healthy families. Complementary therapies like art, animal-assisted, dance/movement, and music allow young children to express themselves non-verbally. These gentle, nonthreatening approaches help children feel safe as they learn to trust, form relationships, self-regulate, and eventually re-integrate into society.

Mount Saint Vincent was named a Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) flagship site in July of 2012. The trauma-informed NMT model was developed by world-renowned child trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry, founder of The ChildTrauma Academy. Mount Saint Vincent is one of a handful of such sites in the world to hold this prestigious distinction.
