This past week's elections brought meaningful wins for our community!
These wins will strengthen health, equity, and opportunity across our be well zones.

🍏 Colorado voters reaffirmed Healthy School Meals for All, ensuring our students have access to fresh, nourishing meals and that the workers who feed them are supported.

🚞 In Denver, voters invested in transportation, housing, parks, and health services, and upheld the flavored to***co ban to help protect our youth.

🛣️ Last but certainly not least, in Aurora, new leadership and the creation of a Downtown Development Authority mark an important step toward community-driven development along East Colfax.

These results remind us that when we show up, our community moves forward.
Thank you to everyone who made their voice heard.

On Saturday, November 8th, be well hosted a Vaccine Clinic and "Ask the Expert" session.

This undertaking was part of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church (RSMBC)'s annual health-focused event. It occurred in collaboration with the Public Health Institute of Denver Health and the CDPHE Vaccine Champions for Equity program. RSMBC is a longstanding partner of be well and a viable member of be well's Pastor's Round Table.

There were 16 vaccinated, and about 25 attended the "Ask the Expert" session. The Ask the Expert session was facilitated by Dr. Shunda Cotton and three physician presenters, including Dr. Judith Shlay, Dr. Alex Enurah, and Dr. Josh Williams. They gave a presentation on "Routine Vaccines," then took questions from the audience about vaccines and other health-related conditions. Great questions were asked, and the session was very informative for all in attendance.

With recent changes to SNAP funding during the federal shutdown, many families in our community may be feeling the impact.

Here’s what you should know:
• Partial benefits will be distributed this month.
• Colorado has approved $10M to help food banks stretch resources, turning into roughly $50M worth of groceries.
• Locally, Denver has opened donation sites and resources to support neighbors in need.

If you or someone you know needs food assistance, or if you'd like to donate or volunteer, call 📞 211 or visit 211colorado.org.

You can also drop off food at these community recreation centers this weekend:
• Montclair Rec Center - 729 Ulster Way
• Hiawatha Davis Rec Center - 3334 Holly St.
• Green Valley Ranch Rec Center - 4890 Argonne Way

We take care of each other here. 💚
