This is a great article explaining how we are collectively feeling grief (aka anticipated or actual loss and/or anxiety) right now. It helps to understand our feelings!

I wanted to share some bits of advice and love to help us through such crazy/scary/anxiety provoking/frustrating times:

1. Stay grounded as much as possible! You can go outside to get fresh air. You can meditate or sleep or breathe. Working out at home, even a short 20 minute body work out or yoga class, might be a great way to feel better if you feel cooped up or nervous. Almost all online exercise platforms are offering free classes for the next few weeks.

2. Do as much as you can when it comes to things you enjoy. You can still go outside, eat food you like, rub your pets, read books, journal, and catch up on shows!

3. If you have to work at home, continue to maintain a good routine for yourself including grooming and eating. Maintain or create as much normalcy as you can.

4. REACH OUT. Isolation is hard on human kind. Luckily we live in the time of facetime, skype, texting, phone calls and sending each other memes through social media. Is tinder still working? I wouldn't know haha. Seriously, though, definitely reach out about your mental health. We are all feeling this: the anxiety of the unknown, the impact of mass panic/hysteria, nervousness about income and the health of loved ones. Reach out to friends and professionals. No one has to go through this alone.

5. It's okay to not feel perfectly okay right now. Give yourself some grace to be a little lost, or to not cope perfectly. Shaming ourselves (or others) right now will not help. It is hard to know what to do and we all lose our minds sometimes! Just keep coming back and keep taking care of yourself as you can.

6. Practice flexibility. Everyone is disappointed about something right now. Many events have been canceled. We can't go to places we like to go to. Remember this is all temporary. It is fine to feel disappointed or frustrated or mad. It's fine to want to throw a tempter tantrum. This sucks! For everyone. But when you can, try to be honest with yourself about what things you can let go of: expectations, disappointment, things we had hoped we'd be able to do. Be flexible in how you get your needs met even if it's not through plan A, or even plan B or C.

Remember: Humans are resilient. We can adapt! Life right now might not be exactly as we hoped, but we will be okay. Hang in there!

One of the top 5 problems my clients worry about is making friends in adulthood. It can be SO hard! This is a great article with some smart actionable ideas for you to use or pass along!

What can be said about making friends as an adult that hasn’t already been said before? Pretty much, everything. Because try as I might, the concept of making friends seems more difficult than learning a new language, babysitting triplets, and doing taxes, simultaneously. But, why exactly does it ...
