Happy December from the Gaudiani Clinic! We enjoyed some extra team time this week with a fun evening full of holiday letter writing for the organization, a delicious and lively team happy hour (though missing the in-person presence of our wonderful Drs. Lischke and Das), and predictably, some holiday outfit twinning. We’ll be sharing some of our favorite moments from 2025 in these final days of the year, and look forward to sharing some great new content in 2026!

Highlighting some of Colorado's beauty as we begin a new week. December is known to be a busy month, with a sense of finality as the year comes to a close. We’re reminding our patients that consistent self-care—nourishment, sleep, medical care, boundaries, therapy, and whatever it is that makes your heart happy—is one of the best things you can give yourself, starting now and into the new year.

One of the big changes in the second edition of Sick Enough was a restructuring of content to have the chapter on weight stigma and weight-inclusive care be the very first thing people read after the introduction. One of the primary reasons for this is the belief that weight stigma, or the social rejection and devaluation of those who don't conform with prevailing body weight and shape norms, forms a major part of the foundation upon which eating disorders are built. The toxic tentacles of this stigma touch many aspects of life, including how medical care is delivered and the snap judgements people have about what a "healthy" and an "unhealthy" body might look like.

While the negative impacts of weight stigma are better understood and represented in the eating disorder community than in the past, there is still work to be done, and we hope SE2 can be part of the ongoing shift. Our team is proud to offer weight-inclusive care to all of our patients throughout the country, whether they have an eating disorder or are seeing us for primary care, and to continue to do the work for ongoing growth and understanding.

We first met Elizabeth Ayiku in 2018 when she was working on her beautiful film, Me Little Me. In the years since, Elizabeth has created the Me Little Me Foundation to help people secure access to food and other basic necessities. At a time when SNAP benefits are being limited and many workers are going without pay, it is even more important to help fund the Me Little Me virtual pantry to help provide nourishment to those in need.
