Is it possible to miss your partner in spite of spending "too much" time together? Absolutely! Great tips for staying connected emotionally during this trying time.

Coping with grief and loss is challenging during the most predictable of times, but what do we do when all of our traditional rituals are taken by COVID?

Grief can be an isolating experience and now, more than ever, it is important to have strategies to stay connected to family and friends. We can still be together while observing physical distance and small group limitations.

To our always-wonderful clients,

First and foremost, we are so grateful for the gracious ways in which you have responded to our changes throughout this uncertain time period. You have been so kind in checking in on us and in offering to help other clients of ours, should needs arise. There was never any doubt that you all were fantastic but this has proven that to be clear. A special ‘thank you’ for your abounding goodness.

As you all know, things are changing very rapidly regarding the information we have surrounding the COVID-19 virus. While Colorado has been very active as a state in trying to get out in front of what it can, the virus has still arrived here in our area. Because of the rapid changes and potential shut-downs approaching, we are once again changing our protocols for counseling.

• We will still be serving all of our clients; that’s not changing. We love supporting you through your growth and changes and we know that this time is especially challenging on top of what was already going on.

• We are, however, moving from a “preference for online counseling” to an “exclusively online counseling” model for the time being. While the overwhelming majority of you who are on the schedule have had successful virtual sessions with us already, there are some who have not and some who are making plans about their work with us.

• This has some great added benefits over traditional in-office counseling:
• You can do it from pretty much anywhere: office, home, park -- anywhere with a good signal.
• More free time! Since you don’t have to drive anywhere, you get all that time back for you and your family.
• More flexibility! Since you don’t have to worry about driving or traffic or being in our office, you probably have more hours available to you to use for sessions.

This was not an easy decision as we would never want to intentionally limit access to any of our clients’ mental health needs. But knowing that we could attend to those while also keeping you, your families and our families safe made the choice for us.

Now, you may have never done any virtual therapy before and have some questions and concerns surrounding it. If that’s the case, please let us know. We are happy to talk to you about them, answer any questions you might have, and even do a quick demo so you can see what it’s like; we think you’ll like it.

The platforms we use are safe and secure, and your privacy is equally as respected via video sessions as it is in person. The bonus for us is that we’ve now had the chance to see your kids, meet your pets, see your cool living room art, and watch you get cozy on your own couch instead of ours. Quite a privilege for us.

As we said last time, we really do appreciate the privilege of being involved in your stories and being an intimate part of your lives. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns we’re happy to talk about them. Your global wellbeing is important to us and we’re always here to help.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either of us individually or by calling the practice line at (970) 370-7284.

Keep taking care of yourselves and we’ll see you soon.

Our Story

We opened Riverpath Counseling more than 7 years ago to offer counseling to individuals, couples and families that were going through tough times. We saw so many people hurting and having a hard time finding warm, effective therapy.

We heard lots of stories about not getting calls back, never getting in, and substandard care. We wanted to change that; we wanted to be different.

Different is what you’ll get when working with us. Our promise to to take great care of you, to help you acheive your goals, and to make you feel valued and respected throughout the entirety of the process. After all, we’re all in this big thing called “Life” together.
