Dear Friends,
As we come to the close of another year—and to the Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year—I find myself reflecting on both the remarkable progress we’ve made together and the challenges now before us. This year, more than any other, has underscored the power of community—and the critical need for it.
In July, we received difficult news: our federal funding was cut as part of broad national reductions affecting organizations across the country.
For us, the impact is real and immediate.
For years, our organization has relied on a key federal funding stream to sustain and expand clinical research in local communities—research that brings scientific discovery directly to the people who need it most. This funding has made it possible for us to:
• Ensure equitable access to cutting-edge treatments, prevention programs, and health innovations, and bring clinical trials and research opportunities to local communities
• Partner with trusted local clinics, community leaders, and participants to shape research that reflects real-world needs
• Close persistent gaps in health outcomes through culturally informed, community-guided research
But there is light in the darkness.
Every year, I see what becomes possible when supporters like you step forward. While the loss of federal funding has created a significant gap, it has also reminded us of something we have always known: lasting change is built not by institutions alone, but by people.
With the support of our Board, our team has established a DBA -- Altitude Clinical Research – and is expanding our study portfolio into new therapeutic areas, including behavioral health, dermatology, urology, and oncology. Our mission remains the same: to bring clinical research to local communities, giving patients the broadest possible array of treatment options as they navigate their health challenges.
That is why I am asking for your support today.
Your year-end gift will help us:
• Maintain essential programs through 2025
• Prevent service reductions or waitlists
• Protect staff capacity and community partnerships
• Continue delivering high-quality, life-changing support to those who rely on us
Whatever you choose to give, please know this: your support right now matters more than ever. We will find light in the darkness—because of you. If you have already given, Thank You!
I am deeply grateful for your commitment, your generosity, and your belief in our mission. Thank you for standing with us at this critical moment. Together, we can turn uncertainty into resilience, and loss into renewed possibility.
May your holiday season be filled with light, love, and peace.
With appreciation,
Lisa Switzer, M.A.
CEO & Executive Director
