Bone Throwing Level 1: Beginner

If you’re preparing for Bone Baby’s Bone Throwing Level 1, here’s exactly what you’ll need to participate fully and confidently:

🦴 1 Bone Throwing Kit
A starter kit of 13–16 pieces is ideal for beginners. This size allows you to learn structure, relationships between pieces, and interpretation without becoming overwhelmed. Simpler kits build stronger foundations. These can be really found on Etsy, or other online sources by searching for "beginner bone throwing kit".

🖤 1 Mat or Cloth
You’ll need a designated surface to cast your bones onto. This can be a small fabric cloth, scarf, altar cloth, or mat, something that clearly defines your reading space and helps contain your throw.

👉 1 Pointer
This can be a small stick, wand, bone, or even a pen. A pointer helps you indicate specific pieces during practice and strengthens your ability to explain placements clearly (especially in virtual settings).

📓 1 Journal
Documenting your throws is essential. Your journal becomes your personal grimoire of patterns, meanings, growth, and developing symbolism.

🖊 1 Pen
Yes, a real one. You’ll be writing a lot. Reflection is part of the craft.

On April 12th, 2026, Bone Baby is holding a Level 1 Bone Throwing Workshop designed for beginners and those wanting to strengthen their foundation in a grounded, ethical, and supportive way.

This will be a 90-minute virtual workshop hosted on Google Meets, with space intentionally limited to only 4 students so everyone receives personal attention and room to grow.

The investment is $75.

Please note: participants must purchase their own bone kit separately in order to take part in the workshop.

Students will also receive follow-up access after the workshop, so if questions arise while practicing, you’re not left navigating it alone.

We’re pleased to share that the price of our one-on-one virtual Bone Throwing Workshop has been reduced from $111 to $75. This change reflects our commitment to making this course more accessible to a wider community.

During this workshop, participants will learn how to confidently read for themselves and begin developing the skills needed to read for others. The course covers the ethical foundations of bone throwing, how to identify, give meaning to and interpret individual pieces, an overview of the global cultural history of the practice, along with a bundle of additional practical guidance and insights.

This workshop is well suited for those who already practice divination as well as those who are completely new. No prior experience is required—bone throwing is a skill anyone can learn, and it offers a deeply engaging and rewarding experience.

Bone Throwing kit is NOT included in the price of this workshop.
