After divorce, everyone says, “You need support,” but no one tells you what that actually means.
That is why I like thinking in layers of support instead of one magic fix. You might have a therapist helping you untangle old wounds, a coach helping you script emails and boundaries, and a group giving you a place to say, “This is what is really happening,” without being judged. Different roles. Different jobs. All valid.
On Friday’s episode of the Kids First podcast, I have Dr. Kristen Hick (From the Center for Shared Insight, and lead Psychologist with the Divorce Recovery Group) on to walk through what a therapist led process group actually is, what happens in the room, and how it is different from venting with friends or taking a course.
And in case you are wondering where Kids First fits in this picture:
✨✨ The Kids First Membership is solidly coaching and education. I am here to help you with strategy, skills, and scripts so you can protect your child’s emotional world in a high conflict situation. It can sit alongside your individual therapy or a process group as part of a fuller support team.
