Depression doesn’t just impact mood, it impacts the body. 🌫️
While evidence based approaches like CBT are powerful, integrating somatic journaling can deepen healing by reconnecting mind + body.
When we slow down and notice physical sensations (tightness, heaviness, breath shifts), we strengthen interoception, reduce rumination, and build emotional regulation skills.
Here are a few somatic journaling prompts to try ✍️
✨ Where do I feel sensation in my body right now?
✨ What shifts in my body when I recall a hard moment today?
✨ What happens when I breathe into discomfort?
✨ Where do I hold “depressive” tension?
✨ What feels neutral or even slightly pleasant in my body right now?
Why this matters 🧠
Depression often disconnects us from our bodies. Somatic awareness gently rebuilds that connection, helping us move from numbness to noticing, from autopilot to presence.
How to start:
✔️ Pick 1 prompt
✔️ Write for 5–10 minutes
✔️ Describe sensation first, meaning second
✔️ Bring insights into therapy
Journaling isn’t about perfection, it’s about awareness. And awareness is a powerful step toward healing. 🌿
