We recently had an excellent preceptor development session presented by Dr. Aleks Kiernoziak PharmD, BCIDP and Dr. Katie Dionne, PharmD, BCCCP. Effective feedback is an integral part of any learning environment, especially during residency. Preceptors worked through a variety of feedback delivery methods, considerations, and strategies to provide a nourishing learning environment for our residents.

Need a dose of puppy? Remy has been a therapy dog at Denver Health for the last 10 years! Today, our residents were able to greet Remy in the PICU for some much needed dog therapy 🫶🏼

Recently our very own Dr. Steven Sloan, PharmD our PGY2 Critical Care Resident gave an amazing grand rounds presentation on Corticosteroids in Septic Shock Versus Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. His thorough evaluation of available literature provided great insight into treatment options!

Last week our residents presented their completed MUEs at Vizient! A huge round of applause to our residents and the preceptors who supported these projects. Now, our residents are shifting their focus to their major projects for future presentation at the 2026 Residency Conference of the Rockies. 🔬

Our residents were busy enjoying the holiday season, so this post is coming a little late - but they were kind enough to share what they’re thankful for this year! We had a wonderful Friendsgiving hosted by Connie, and our amazing social media chair, Bridger, welcomed residents into his home for a Thanksgiving dinner for those who couldn’t travel. From our residency family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Antibiotic Awareness Week! Antibiotic Awareness Week is an annual observance, led by the CDC, that highlights the steps everyone can take to improve antibiotic use. To celebrate, we had cake served by Dr. Kati Shihadah (Infectious Diseases Pharmacist, ID PGY-2 RPD) and Dr. Tim Jenkins (Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Microbiology Lab)!

Our next resident spotlight highlights one of our PGY-1 Residents, Connie Lau, PharmD!

Dr. Connie Lau is from Houston, TX and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Her clinical interests include ambulatory care, infectious diseases, and internal medicine. She chose to pursue residency at Denver Health because of its commitment to serving a diverse patient population and mission to deliver high-quality care regardless of patients’ financial circumstances. During her free time, Connie enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and practicing yoga.
