🇺🇸 Today on Veterans Day, we honor the courage and sacrifice of all who have served in our nation’s armed forces. It is a day to remember those we have lost and to express our deepest gratitude to the veterans among us.

At Denver Health, we are proud that many veterans have continued their call to service by caring for our community. Each year our leaders host a special breakfast to thank our veteran employees and recognize the leadership, dedication and unique perspective they bring to our mission.

As we head into Veterans Day tomorrow, we are honoring the service of six military veterans in our Anesthesiology Department. Their military training in high-pressure environments prepared them for the critical work they do today caring for our community.

"A similarity between Denver Health and the military is mission focus," said Mark Chandler, MD, Chair of Anesthesiology and retired Army Colonel. "You're focused on a mission that you can feel good about."

🥳 Thank you to everyone who joined us today as we broke ground on our new Sam Sandos Westside Family Health Center.

Partially funded through the Vibrant Denver Bond, this milestone marks an exciting step forward in expanding high quality, accessible care for our West Denver community.

The ceremony featured remarks from Denver Health CEO Donna Lynne along with Mayor Mike Johnston, Councilwoman Jamie Torres, Simon Hambidge, MD and Dan Sandos, son of the center’s namesake. Together, they emphasized what this investment means for the future of health and well-being in West Denver for generations to come.

✈️ Did you know Denver Health has a specialized team of paramedics stationed at Denver International Airport ?

When a medical emergency happens at one of the busiest airports in America, our Denver Health Paramedics are ready to respond across 53 square miles of terminals, tarmacs and roadways. They’re trained to handle small- to large-scale emergencies, keeping travelers safe and flight ready.

Denver Health Paramedic Lieutenant Tom Stoffer and his team respond to up to 30 calls a day, using cars, Segways and golf carts to reach patients fast. Their speed and medical expertise make them a vital part of DEN’s emergency response operations.

❄️ October is over, which means Coloradans are gearing up for ski season!

For lifelong snowboarder and Denver Health patient Bob Klein, that was not always possible. After ten years of living with knee arthritis and pain, staying active and doing the things he enjoyed became increasingly difficult. A double knee replacement performed by Denver Health orthopedic surgeon Mark Hammerberg, MD, at our Orthopedic Center of Excellence changed that. Now Bob is back to carving turns and doing what he loves most. 🏂

💙 Denver Health proudly celebrates CEO Donna Lynne, who was honored with the David J. Cole Denver Public Safety Citizen’s Award at the 15th Annual Denver Public Safety Luncheon this week.

This award recognizes her lifelong dedication to making Denver a better, safer and healthier place for all.

Denver Health Chief Paramedic Justin Harper, along with other Denver Health leaders, attended in support, joining public safety professionals and community partners who make our city stronger every day.

🎃 Happy Halloween from Denver Health’s tiniest trick-or-treaters! 🍼

Our NICU was full of spooky cute zoo babies for the 8th annual Halloween photoshoot hosted by the NICU Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC). 🦁🐘🦓

Handmade costumes by Kristie Schenck, RN, brought the theme to life as families joined in the fun. The PFAC team visited each room to snap photos and spread cheer with a fall-themed coffee cart serving coffee, tea, cider, hot chocolate and sweet treats. ☕🍫🍂

What a frightfully fun week it’s been at Denver Health! 👻

Families, neighbors and community members joined us for two nights of Trunk or Treat fun at our Federico F. Peña Southwest Family Health Center and La Casa/Quigg Newton Family Health Center. Employees filled the parking lots with festive décor, games, candy and Halloween spirit, bringing smiles to hundreds of little trick-or-treaters. 🍬 The giant Operation and skull co****le games were major hits!
