🏫 Denver Health's School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) support both student health and future health care careers.
Our Health Care Entry Program (HCEP) provides paid, entry-level opportunities for recent Denver Public Schools graduates interested in the medical field. Trainees gain hands-on experience supporting SBHC clinic operations while exploring career pathways including Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Phlebotomy and EMT training programs.
Angeles Chagolla, an Abraham Lincoln High School student, joined HCEP after learning about the program through her school’s SBHC. Working alongside Denver Health teams and witnessing equitable, high-quality care firsthand inspired her to continue building her future within health care and at Denver Health.
Since launching, HCEP trainees have advanced into clinical training programs and full-time roles across our system, strengthening the health care workforce while expanding opportunity for local students. 👏 💙
