Reflection Friday 🤝

The “Conversation with the Valley Legislative Delegation” at the Brownson Country Club in Shelton, hosted by the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, was a truly impactful way to start last Friday morning.

Local business owners, employees, and community members came together for open, honest conversations about what’s really happening across the Valley and within our communities. It created a space where real concerns could be voiced, heard, and acknowledged.

A sincere thank you to our legislative delegation— Senator Jason Perillo, state Representative Arnold Jensen, State Representative Kara Rochelle, and State Representative Mary Welander—for being present, listening, and engaging in meaningful dialogue around the issues that matter most.

We also appreciate AT&T for sponsoring this important event and helping bring the community together.

What stood out most was the shared commitment to progress—working collaboratively to address concerns and explore solutions at both the local and state level.

It was a powerful reminder that change starts with conversation—and that when people come together with purpose, progress is possible.

HCAOA Connecticut members came to the state capitol recently to advocate and show support for the home care industry.

Our Connecticut Chapter co-sponsored Care at Home Day at the Capitol with Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home March 18 at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

The annual event featured remarks from Chapter leaders and lawmakers, discussion of priority policies and legislation, networking with peers and member meetings with state legislators.

Thanks to all who participated!

🌟 MORE EXCITING NEWS!🌟

In-Home Angels is now a provider (Department of Developmental Services), expanding our ability to support individuals with developmental disabilities right here in our community.

This means we are now an approved Connecticut Department of Developmental Services provider. Through the State of Connecticut we are able to deliver services to individuals who qualify for DDS support. Through this program, we work alongside individuals and their families to provide personalized, non-medical care that promotes independence, safety, and overall quality of life—all within the comfort of their own home and community.

As a DDS provider, we are part of a broader network of services designed to help individuals reach their goals, build life skills, and stay actively engaged in their communities, while also offering support and peace of mind to families and caregivers.

Why we chose this path:
In-Home Angels was founded with a heartfelt commitment to supporting individuals through every stage of life. Inspired by our founder JoBeth’s journey as a cancer survivor, our mission has always been rooted in providing safe, compassionate, high-quality care that honors each person’s dignity and individuality.

We’ve seen firsthand the growing need for dependable, relationship-driven care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Expanding into DDS services allows us to make an even greater impact—supporting not just individuals, but entire families navigating this journey. We thoughtfully match each client with skilled, experienced caregivers to build meaningful, trusting relationships that truly make a difference.

We’re honored to continue growing alongside our community and look forward to supporting even more individuals in meaningful, life-enhancing ways.

Happy Friday! 🎉 We’re still feeling the joy from attending the 2026 Ezra Academy Gala this past Sunday—what an incredible evening filled with community, celebration, and connection. ✨

A big congratulations to this year’s honorees, Dr. Elena Ratner, Rabbi Joshua Ratner, and Max Trachten, along with a heartfelt tribute to Lois Murray z’’l, who was clearly a beloved educator within the academy and the greater community. 💙

✨Announcement✨

In case you haven’t heard—now you have!

We’re proud to share that we are now ABI Waiver Service Providers through the Connecticut Department of Social Services.

The Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program, operated by the Department of Social Services, provides a range of non-medical, home and community-based services that support adults living with brain injuries to remain safely in their communities.

This program is designed to help participants relearn, strengthen, and maintain the skills needed for independent living. Rooted in person-centered planning, each care plan is thoughtfully developed to be appropriate, effective, and tailored to the individual—supporting meaningful outcomes and the ability to live within the community of their choice.

At In-Home Angels, we are honored to be part of this important work. Our team is specially trained to support individuals within the ABI community—fostering independence, confidence, and connection every step of the way.

💙 If you or someone you know could benefit from ABI Waiver services, please call 203-463-8860. We are here as a resource.

We were honored to attend the first-ever Teal Horizons Conference — a powerful gathering focused on the past, present, and future of gynecologic cancer thrivers and their caregivers.

Hosted by Yale New Haven Health, Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale Cancer Center, and Discovery to Cure, the day was filled with insightful keynote speakers, educational breakout sessions, and meaningful conversations centered around healing, support, and life beyond a cancer diagnosis.

We heard an inspiring keynote from Dr. Ellen Lewis on the benefits of integrative and naturopathic medicine alongside traditional cancer care, and powerful insights from Dr. Elena Ratner on treating not just the disease, but the whole person throughout the cancer journey.
Sessions explored topics like cancer education, nutrition, mental wellness, oncology-safe massage, and practical ways caregivers can support their loved ones through treatment and survivorship.
Events like this are such an important reminder that healing is not meant to happen alone. For those walking the cancer journey — whether as a thriver, survivor, or caregiver — taking care of your mind, body, and spirit is so important.

At In-Home Angels, supporting families through life’s most challenging moments is incredibly close to our hearts. We are grateful to continue learning, growing, and being part of a community that reminds us all that compassion, care, and connection truly make a difference.

With spring on the rise, we decided to bring a little sunshine and warmth early last week in honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. ☀️💙

Members of our team — CEO JoBeth Foley and Community Outreach Manager Megan Julian — delivered 40 pizzas to the wonderful participants at Changing Images Adult day Center in Stratford. St. Vincent's Special Needs Services This program provides individuals with developmental disabilities opportunities for socialization, engaging activities, mental stimulation, and participation in community outings.

As we continue working more closely with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, we feel grateful for the opportunity to learn from and support these amazing members of our community. Every day they remind us how important connection, inclusion, and celebration truly are.

A big thank you to Casa Bianca Stratford for generously donating additional pizzas to help us share the love. 🍕

We are proud to celebrate the extraordinary individuals in our community not just this month, but every day.
