The Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri and Kansas offers vital resources and services, like their Independent Living Program that help people with epilepsy live healthier, happier, and more productive lives as they transition into adulthood.

This program supports individuals diagnosed as children as they navigate adult life by helping with:

• Developing a more independent lifestyle
• Living safely and securely at home and in the community
• Individualized support to better manage seizures
• Stress management techniques
• Access to community resources and advocacy

When you support EFMK—even by spreading awareness by liking or sharing their posts, you are helping real people build real independence and a better quality of life. 💜

Everyday we miss you more. You are very loved our sweet boy. 💜❤️

Today we remember Kayven.

"Kayven liked to help others & make friends-he was our little buddy & everyone’s big bro. One of our favorite memories—and what we miss the most—are his hugs, or as he called them, “huggies.” His light, laughter, and love for life continue to inspire us every day." - Kacey

The The Danny Did Foundation does incredible work supporting kids and families impacted by epilepsy. Seizure detection devices save lives by alerting caregivers so action can be taken. Thank you, Danny Did, for all you do. 💜❤️

This struggle is all too real.

First, Life-changing or life-saving medications should not be this hard to access or afford.

If an insurer denies a treatment your doctor says is medically necessary, you have rights. Under federal ACA law, families can request an external review by an independent doctor and the decision is binding. Since 2018, Kansas has overturned 54% of denied claims requesting review.

There is help. Finding it and sharing it is part of our mission.
If you or someone you know is facing an insurance denial, please read this article or contact the Kansas Insurance Commissioner to request a review.

💜

When insurance twice refused to cover a nearly $800,000-a-year drug that Paxton Pope’s doctor believed could dramatically reduce his frequent seizures, his family initially braced for a serious medical setback.

Then the Popes learned about a little-known provision in the Affordable Care Act that allows asking an outside state-run panel to review the insurer’s decision — a move that led to the denial ultimately being overturned.

Experts say that while most patients don’t know these agencies exist, they can guide individuals or families through an additional step beyond the insurer’s internal appeals process: an external review.

“They’re a well-kept secret,” said Michele Johnson, executive director of the Tennessee Justice Center. “I think it’s definitely worth trying, and get doctors to help fight for you, because, of course, the doctor’s opinion is going to make a huge difference.”

I am so glad we were able to attend the PAME: Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy conference the past two days. I met so many incredible families, each with their own powerful stories and strength. 💜

Endless thank-yous to The Danny Did Foundation for the travel grant that made it possible for us to be there. 🙏❤️ Your support means more than words.

Thank you to the families, researchers, doctors and everyone putting in the hours and effort for change and progress.

💜 THANK YOU! 💜

Because of your love, support, and willingness to share our mission, our Giving Tuesday campaign didn’t just meet its goal—we exceeded it! Together, you helped raise $2,510 for Kayven’s Helping Hands.

Your generosity means more children will discover adventures in books, more families will receive epilepsy resources and support, and more little moments of kindness will continue to carry Kayven’s light forward.

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for giving, sharing, and spreading the word. You are helping us make real, tangible differences in the lives of children and families right here in our community.

If you didn’t get a chance to give, there’s still time.
👉 Every single dollar creates a little adventure and changes a child’s life.
