Marriage tip of the day: Pack the love… and the sleep plugs! One of my patients is headed on a cruise with her husband — who just happens to be a champion snorer. Custom sleep plugs will help her enjoy the ocean waves without the chainsaw soundtrack in the background 😂

Patients often ask why I schedule a Communication & Needs Assessment before recommending hearing aids.

The reason is simple: no two lifestyles — or ears — are the same.

Some people are sensitive to sound and need exceptionally natural, soft sound quality — that’s where Widex can shine.
Some live active lives around water or sweat and need extra durability — yes, Starkey offers waterproof options.
Others rely heavily on their cell phones and want seamless Bluetooth streaming — Phonak is fantastic for Android connectivity.

Every manufacturer has different strengths, and my job is to match the right technology to your real-life needs, not just your hearing test.

As a small, family-owned clinic, we’re not tied to just one brand. That means we can focus on one thing:
Helping YOU hear your best in the situations that matter most.

Struggling to hear even with hearing aids? That’s why today’s patient came into the clinic. After a hearing test, we found their word understanding was below 50%! This led to a conversation about hearing aids versus cochlear implants.

Because we are a family-owned practice, we’re able to tailor treatment plans to each patient’s needs, goals, and wants. Together, we chose a combined approach: a new hearing aid for one ear and a cochlear implant evaluation for the other.

Sometimes new hearing aids aren’t the full answer. For some patients, the next step in their hearing journey is cochlear implants—and that can be life-changing!

Their goal is to hear their 3 year old grand daughter by summer. I’m so excited to get them started on their cochlear implant journey and to see them smash that goal!

Do your hearing aids still sound “off” even after adjustments?

That happened with two patients I saw this week. I ran real ear measurements to check their hearing aid settings—and the difference was amazing!

Why? Because real ear measurements make sure your hearing aids are perfectly tuned for YOUR ears.

This is the gold standard for hearing aid verification — and it’s one of the biggest reasons patients say their hearing aids finally sound “right.”

Another 5 star review!

Opening my own clinic has been the hardest but rewarding thing I have ever done. Hearing reviews like this truly reminds me why I do what I do. Every patient’s story matters, and my goal is always to make sure you feel heard, understood, and confident in your hearing journey.

As a cochlear implant user, I’ve always struggled to hear in windy environments. Wind noise has been one of the most frustrating listening situations for me personally.

The reality is that anything with a microphone struggles in the wind—whether it’s a professional microphone, your cell phone, or the microphones on hearing aids and cochlear implants. Wind hitting a microphone creates distortion, and unfortunately, technology can only do so much against it.

That said, over the years—growing up with hearing loss and using hearing technology myself—I’ve learned a few tips and tricks that truly make a difference. I’ve listed the ones that work best for me below, and I hope they help you too. 💙
