We have enjoyed partnering with OPH and participating in school health and resource fairs providing information to our students and engaging them with re: mental health/prevention/health topics. We are looking forward to the Peer Initiative Club being piloted at DHS next school year.

We were also equally excited to participate in a radio interview at KVVP radio re: providing awareness information to prevent underage drinking with our comm partners De Ridder Police Department Chief Richard, DHS Principal Mr. Sammy Smith, DHS student and youth coalition member Myโ€™ Lisa Bolden and BPC coordinator Charlotte Walker.

Chief Craig Richard recently sat down with DeRidder High School Principal Mr. Sammy Smith, Mrs. Charlotte Satcher-Walker of the Beauregard Prevention Coalition, and Today's Country 105.7 KVVP
for an important conversation focused on underage drinking and prevention.

During the discussion, they covered the legal consequences of underage drinking, the proactive measures currently in place at DeRidder High School, and the real impact alcohol can have on a developing brain from a studentโ€™s perspective. The group also emphasized how critical it is for parents to have open, ongoing conversations with their children, especially during key moments when teens may be facing peer pressure or difficult decisions.

Prevention starts at home and in our community. Talking to your children about underage drinking early and often can make all the difference.

Together, we can continue working to keep our DeRidder youth safe, informed, and supported.๐Ÿ’™

Do not share or take someone elseโ€™s medication. Regardless of intention, sharing or taking someone elseโ€™s medication is not safe. Sharing prescription drugs violates federal controlled substance regulations. Even giving a single pill can be treated as criminal distribution, potentially resulting in felony charges, fines, and jail time.
