When temperatures drop, your muscles naturally tighten and shorten to preserve heat. Blood vessels constrict, circulation slows, joints feel stiffer, and old aches or injuries tend to speak up a little louder. That’s why you might notice more neck tension, low back pain, headaches, or hip tightness during the winter months.

Massage helps counteract all of that.

✨ Increases circulation – Massage brings fresh blood flow back into cold, tight tissues, delivering oxygen and nutrients your muscles need to relax and heal.
✨ Reduces stiffness & joint pain – Gentle stretching and muscle work help restore mobility that gets limited in colder temps.
✨ Supports the nervous system – Winter can be stressful on the body. Massage activates the parasympathetic (“rest & digest”) response, helping your body fully relax and reset.
✨ Warms the body from the inside out – You’re not just cozy during the session—your tissues stay looser and more pliable afterward.

Think of massage in the winter as maintenance, not a luxury. Just like you wouldn’t skip oil changes because it’s cold outside, your muscles still need care—arguably more care—this time of year.

Your body carries you through every season.
Winter is simply a reminder to slow down, soften, and support it a little extra. 🤍

Your nervous system learns safety through the body, not through logic, affirmations, or “just letting it go.”

You can understand your trauma.
You can talk about it.
You can be incredibly self-aware.

…and your shoulders can still live up by your ears.

That’s because your body is still protecting you.

Massage gives your nervous system a felt experience of safety, which is what finally tells it to stand down.

✨ The solution:
Consistent, intentional bodywork teaches your nervous system—over time—that it doesn’t have to stay braced, guarded, or on high alert.

That’s when tension releases for good…
not just for the hour on the table.

✨ Your body has been holding more than you realize. ✨

Stress. Tension. Mental overload. Tight shoulders that never quite relax.
That’s where I come in 🤍

Massage isn’t just a luxury — it’s nervous system support, pain relief, and permission to finally exhale. My goal is to help you feel grounded, restored, and reconnected to your body when you leave the table.

If you’ve been saying “I really need a massage”… this is your sign.

Touch is how the nervous system learns it’s safe.

Before words or logic, the body understands pressure, warmth, and rhythm.
That’s what tells it: you’re supported — you can soften.

Safe, intentional touch activates the vagus nerve, lowers stress hormones, and brings the body out of survival mode without needing to think about it.

It releases oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine — the chemistry of connection — while helping muscles and fascia let go of the patterns they’ve been holding to protect you.

In a world of constant stimulation and little connection, touch reminds the body it’s allowed to rest and receive.

And when touch is consensual, attuned, and client-led, it becomes one of the most powerful tools for nervous system regulation — not indulgence, but biology.

Deep Tissue Massage: What It Really Does 🤍

Deep tissue isn’t about “hurting to heal.”
It’s about intentional pressure, slow movements, and working with your nervous system—not against it.

✨ Deep tissue helps with:
• Chronic muscle tension
• Knots and adhesions
• Limited range of motion
• Old injuries & repetitive strain
• Stress held deep in the body (jaw, hips, shoulders)

I use tools like targeted pressure, slow fascial work, and therapeutic creams to help muscles soften and release—not brace and protect.

💡 What you might feel:
✔️ A deep, relieving “good pressure”
✔️ Emotional release (totally normal)
✔️ Soreness for 24–48 hours as your body integrates
✔️ Long-lasting relief when done consistently

💧 Aftercare matters: hydrate, stretch gently, and support your body between sessions.

For best results, deep tissue works beautifully as a monthly maintenance practice, not a one-time fix.

Your body holds your story.
Deep tissue helps it let go 🤍

Sending extra love to anyone who feels this season a little heavier than it looks.
To those grieving, missing loved ones, feeling stretched thin, holding it together by a thread, trying to create magic for their kids, or quietly worrying about what’s next—you’re not alone.

It’s okay if joy and sadness exist at the same time.
It’s okay if rest is your biggest win today.

May you feel held, seen, and supported exactly where you are. 🤍
Gentle reminders: breathe, soften your shoulders, and give yourself the same compassion you give everyone else.

Hi, I’m Holly — a licensed massage therapist and the heart behind Healing with Holly.

I went to Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School in Urbandale, where I learned that massage is about so much more than muscles. It’s about the nervous system, emotional release, and creating a space where the body feels safe enough to soften.

I became a massage therapist for a deeply personal reason.

Growing up, my mom struggled with her mental health. We would go get massages together, and every time afterward, I noticed a shift. She felt more aligned, more present, more herself. Those moments showed me the power of touch — not just to relax the body, but to bring someone back into themselves.

That experience stayed with me.

My mission is to help people regulate their nervous system so they don’t feel stuck in their head, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their body.

✨ Fun fact: The vagus nerve is the main nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system — it tells your body when it’s safe to relax. Gentle, intentional touch and slow breathing help stimulate the vagus nerve, which can lower stress hormones, slow the heart rate, and create a deep sense of calm.

If you’ve been holding it all together for too long,
if your mind never seems to shut off,
if your body is asking for rest —

I’m here for you 🤍
