🎨✨ What a weekend! Milena Dickens (our amazing Center Operations Manager), Erik Eagle and I spent the whole weekend bringing our mural to life at our Step Up ABA Des Moines center and we had an absolute blast doing it! 💛
This mural represents joy, growth, and connection, everything we hope to bring to the children and families we serve.
It also celebrates our beautiful Des Moines community, inspired by the marina and ocean, and painted with our Step Up ABA brand colors. 🌊💖💛💚
We poured our hearts (and a lot of paint 😅) into every detail, and we can’t wait for the Des Moines community to see it and love it as much as we do! 💕

Every day at Step Up ABA, our team works hard to make a difference in the lives of kids with autism but we never forget to have fun while we do it. These are just a few of our amazing behavior analysts bringing both heart and humor to the work they do. Being part of a team that’s passionate, playful, and committed to helping kids grow is what makes Step Up so special.

We never really got a chance to share this until now.
It’s been three months since we opened our Auburn center, but this story is where it all started.

From $50,000 in debt to changing lives

We started this journey in a small house near the train tracks in downtown Kent. We were $50,000 in debt, working long days and nights, unsure when the next payment would come. Insurance paid on strange intervals. The house had its share of problems. But we were thankful. That space became the foundation for something much bigger than us.

We gave it everything. Our time. Our energy. Most of the first few years of our kids’ lives. We worked from 9 to 9 every day because we believed in what we were building. And in just two years, we’ve been able to help over 300 kids grow, learn, and thrive.

It’s bittersweet leaving that little house behind. It meant everything to us. But now we’re in a bigger space with a bigger vision and the chance to serve even more families.

Thank you to everyone who believed in us. Whether you gave your time, your trust, or supported from the sidelines, we couldn’t have done it without you.

To our team, our families, and our community, this is just the beginning.

If you’re starting with nothing but a dream and a lot of heart, keep going. That small start might change everything.
