Today is National Women Physicians Day! 🥼
The Iowa Medical Society commemorates the trailblazing spirit of Elizabeth Blackwell, MD, who, in 1849, became the first American woman to earn a medical degree. Dr. Blackwell paved the way for countless female doctors to follow.
A special thank you to our IMS women physician leaders: President Alison Lynch, MD; President-Elect, Lillian Erdahl, MD; Past-President, Christina Taylor, MD; Emily Boevers, MD; Lindsey Jenkins, MD; Kaaren Olesen, DO; Noreen O'Shea, DO; Rachel Preisser, MD; Victoria Sharp, MD; Mara Syring, DO; and Resident Director Adetayo Oladele-Ajose, MD; as well as all the past women who helped make Iowa medicine what it is today.
