Our team wore red earlier this week for HIV/AIDS Awareness Month! The goals of HIV/AIDS Awareness Month are to promote testing, educate the public about HIV/AIDS, combat stigma, and highlight advances made in treatment and research.

Early detection is key, so this December, talk to your provider about getting tested.

The holidays aren’t joyful for everyone — and that’s okay to talk about.

Nearly 57% of Americans say the season is stressful, and for those already facing behavioral health challenges, the feelings can feel overwhelming.

Across Iowa, our Behavioral Health Services team is helping connect Iowans to care, resources, and support—and they expect the need to increase during the holidays.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (December 12, 2025) — The holiday season is considered a joyous time of celebration and connection. Yet for some, it brings far more complex emotions.

Meet Kateryna Lahun — a dental assistant at Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa — recently featured in The Burlington Beacon Newspaper's “52 Faces” series!

Kateryna moved from Ukraine to Burlington with her husband a year ago. Despite immigration uncertainties, she is passionate about continuing her dental career in the U.S., having worked as a dentist in Ukraine.

Kateryna’s journey to Burlington is a story of resilience, hope, and community. We’re inspired by the dedication and resilience of team members like Kateryna, who bring talents and perspectives that enhance our Iowa communities.

Advocacy Alert 📣 Take action today!

We need your voice to protect access to care for millions of patients. We’re urging you to contact your elected officials to ensure community health centers (CHCs) are exempt from the 340B Rebate Pilot Program.

CHCs serve 34 million people nationwide, including 250,000 patients in Iowa in rural areas and other communities where access to healthcare is scarce. The federal 340B Rebate Pilot Program could significantly impact community health centers (CHCs) unless Congress acts to exempt them.

The pilot threatens to strip away critical funding from CHCs and cause real harm to the patients who depend on CHCs for affordable, high-quality care.

Join us in protecting access to care for millions of patients. Send a message quickly and easily through VoterVoice today!

The Iowa Primary Care Association

The Iowa Primary Care Association (Iowa PCA) has provided technical assistance and training to Iowa’s community health centers to support their ongoing commitment to provide quality, affordable primary and preventive health care to meet community needs since 1988.

The Iowa PCA is a non-profit membership association comprised of 13 community health centers and one migrant health program and is recognized as the trusted voice on healthcare, particularly concerning vulnerable populations. These organizations collectively serve more than 226,000 Iowans each year through over 800,000 patient visits.

Our work focuses on our mission of enhancing community health centers’ capacity to care with a vision of equity for all.
