A trip to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden was just what we needed to ward off the winter blues! 🌿🌸
The warmth, sunshine, and beautiful flowers were a welcome change of pace and the perfect reminder that spring is just around the corner. A wonderful day spent enjoying nature and good company.

Wesley on Grand recently hosted a blood drive with the American Red Cross, and our community truly showed up to help save lives.

Our goal was 19 donations with 23 scheduled appointments, and we were grateful to have 31 heroes register to donate, including 12 new donors. In total, we collected 19 whole blood donations and 6 Power Red donations, for a total of 25 units of blood that could potentially help save up to 75 lives.

Thank you to the Red Cross for partnering with us and helping make this donation drive possible. Giving back to the community and helping restock blood banks is so important, and we are honored to play a small part in helping others. 🩸❤️

Wesley on Grand was honored to host a Women’s Day Panel yesterday. Thank you to the wonderful women who shared their journeys, wisdom, and inspiration with our community. We celebrate the strength, courage, and achievements of women today and every day. 💜

This week, residents across three WesleyLife communities for healthy living had the opportunity to spend time with the two executive leaders who are leading organization into its next chapter.

Wesley on Grand; The Village, A WesleyLife Community; and Brio of Johnston, a WesleyLife Community, each hosted town hall conversations with WesleyLife president and CEO Rob Kretzinger and chief operating officer — and incoming CEO — Allison Pendroy.

Residents asked thoughtful questions, shared observations about life in their communities, and heard directly from both leaders about what comes next.

For many, the town halls marked a meaningful opportunity for residents to spend time with Rob as he prepares to retire this June after decades of leadership with WesleyLife. It also offered them a chance to meet Allison and hear her perspective as she prepares to guide the organization into its next chapter.

Throughout the conversations, one message remained clear: The foundation that guides WesleyLife will not change. Our mission continues to lead the way: Guided by Christian compassion, we support the independence, health, and well-being of older adults wherever they call home.

Thank you to the residents of Wesley on Grand, The Village, and Brio of Johnston for the thoughtful conversations, warm welcomes, and strong engagement. Additional town halls will follow in the coming days.

Today our team members enjoyed a truly restorative experience during Restore Day: Yoga + Thai Bodywork.

Guided yoga was led by Maggie Rebarcak, followed by assisted Thai bodywork and deeper stretching provided by Olive Relaxation. It was intentional time to reset, stretch, and simply breathe.

We are so grateful for opportunities like this that allow our team to slow down, care for their bodies, and refill their cups. 💚

We are proud to announce that three of our communities for healthy living have been named 5-star campuses — the highest possible rating — by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Congratulations to Brio of Johnston, a WesleyLife Community in Johnston, Iowa; Edgewater-A WesleyLife Active Life Community in West Des Moines, Iowa; and Fieldstone of DeWitt, a WellSpire Community in DeWitt, Iowa; and kudos to all who played a role in earning this rating on behalf of those campuses.

Congratulations as well to our communities that were awarded 4 stars: Halcyon House-A WesleyLife Community in Washington, Iowa; Heritage House-A WesleyLife Community in Atlantic, Iowa; The Village, A WesleyLife Community in Indianola, Iowa; and Wesley on Grand in Des Moines, Iowa.

CMS created the highly regarded "star" system to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare communities more easily, using such quality measures as health outcomes and staffing to determine success. CMS considers communities with 5-star designations to be exemplary in the care they provide; 4-star communities provide care designated as "very good."

At Wesley on Grand, we celebrated Black History Month by providing a special lunch for our incredible team members. This beautiful and delicious meal was prepared by one of our very own team member’s catering company — what a meaningful way to honor culture, talent, and community within our own team.

We are so grateful for the gifts and passions our team members share with us each day. ❤️

Wesley on Grand hosted a thrilling Murder Mystery Dinner with The Dinner Detective on this snowy evening! ❄️🔎

What an amazing night filled with laughter, suspense, joy, and meaningful connection. From clever clues to surprise twists, residents and guests alike were fully immersed in the fun.

A special thank you to The Dinner Detective for such a wonderful night of entertainment and engagement! And thank you to all the residents and guests who attended and made the evening so memorable. ✨

Pictures from our Olympics Mini-Games Cart! 🏅✨

Team members brought the fun and a little friendly competition as they were challenged to build the tallest marshmallow tower in 30 seconds — creativity and teamwork were on full display!

They also tested their focus and speed by seeing who could scoop the most cotton balls in 30 seconds blindfolded. It was amazing to watch the laughter, determination, and camaraderie throughout each round.

Moments like these remind us that connection, play, and a little competition can brighten everyone’s day! 💛

Today our residents and team members were treated to the sweetest surprise — precious baby lambs came to visit! 🐑💕

As we know, animals of all sorts have a special way of bringing out pure joy in all of us. Just look at the smiles on everyone’s faces — moments like these fill our community with warmth, laughter, and connection.

A heartfelt thank you to Ryan Amundson, our Director of Well-Being, for traveling to pick up the lambs and safely taking them back home. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and care you gave to make this special experience possible.

Days like today remind us how meaningful simple moments can be. 💛

Love was on the move at Wesley on Grand! ❤️🍿

Our Culture Club rolled a Valentine’s Popcorn Cart all around campus to celebrate and appreciate our incredible team members — and they definitely felt the love! With sweet treats, warm smiles, and heartfelt gratitude, the people who care for others every single day were reminded just how valued they are.

We are so thankful for the creativity and heart our Culture Club brings to our community — and for the amazing team members who make Wesley on Grand such a special place.
