Our wonderful occupational therapist, Haylee, spent her Friday empowering the next generation of healthcare heroes! She led a Mental Health First Aid training for students in the Drake University Occupational Therapy Department and nursing department!🩺

Just like CPR, Mental Health First Aid provides the skills needed to support someone in a crisis. We are so proud of Haylee for sharing her expertise to help build a more supportive, informed community! 🙌

Our administrative assistant, Diane, and administrator, Ashley, were proud to join NARA - The National Association of Rehabilitation Providers & Agencies in shaping comments for the CMS Medicare Advantage Proposed Rule this week.

When providers use their voices, we help protect access, equity, and quality in healthcare. Advocacy isn’t optional—it’s essential to ensuring the people we serve continue to receive the care they deserve. Together, we’re helping shape a stronger, more accessible future for healthcare.

🌈 Creative Emotional Regulation in Action!

Emotional regulation can feel overwhelming, but our occupational therapist, Bri made it accessible and empowering by combining education with play.

✔ Explored emotional states
✔ Identified individualized cues for each state
✔ Reinforced learning using UNO, pairing each card color with a coping skill or emotional signal

This playful strategy helps increase insight, build coping tools, and strengthen emotional confidence.

Occupational therapy can be both effective and fun — and this session was a great example of that!

🙌 How Did We Help This Week? 🙌

This week, our occupational therapist Haylee helped an individual take meaningful steps toward greater independence and confidence.

They were experiencing difficulty with tasks like holding a toothbrush and buttoning clothing due to limited hand strength. Haylee introduced adaptive tools—like built-up handles and a button hook—that made these everyday activities easier, more comfortable, and achievable.

✨ With the right support and the right tools, independence grows.
✨ Small adaptations can create big wins.
