Happy National Guitar Day 🎸

We’re celebrating by looking ahead to The Guitar in Chamber, our upcoming concert that brings musicians together in a collaborative chamber setting and supports the work of the Heart of Iowa Classical Guitar Society.

We’re also grateful to Bravo Greater Des Moines for their continued support of the Heart of Iowa Classical Guitar Society. Partnerships like this help make nights of live music, collaboration, and community possible here in central Iowa.

A quick peek behind the scenes as we prepare for The Guitar in Chamber.

This concert grew out of a lot of “What if we tried this?” conversations. What if we brought musicians together in a chamber setting? What if we followed where our collective musical voices lead?

It’s a first for the Heart of Iowa Classical Guitar Society and a fundraiser that supports the work we do to educate, share music, and build community here in central Iowa. Thanks for being curious with us and for supporting live music in our community.

We can’t fix central Iowa winters but we can line up some really good music. We’re working on our first-ever collaboration with musicians beyond the classical guitar world.

We're excited to welcome classical guitarist Abigail Rae to Guitars Under the Stars as she performs Nocturne no. 5 and Egmont Overture as shortened arrangement. Her playing pays close attention to how a melody breathes, shaping each line in a way that feels both intentional and inviting.

As winners of prestigious competitions and products of musical education in both China and the United States, Meng Su and Yameng Wang have toured the world. Through their programming, they will take us along to France, Brazil,  Spain, and Argentina, and China.
