🏓 The Des Moines Pickleball Team Classic Tournament was a smashing success, raising more than $30,000 to support Child Life and the NICU at Blank Children's Hospital! A huge thank you to all the players, sponsors and volunteers who made this event so impactful. A special shoutout to the tournament directors, Kylie and Derek! We are so appreciative of this incredible gift, which will bring comfort and healing to patients. 💗

This little cutie is central Iowa's first baby of 2026! Baby New Year is named Dezi Kay and was born at 12:20 this morning at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Dezi weighed in at 8.2 pounds and can't wait to meet her two big sisters! Her parents are Alicia and Xavior of Waukee. When asked about having Baby New Year Alicia said, "I think it means she's bound to be extra special."

Please note, this may not be a safe sleep position, but while taking these photos the babies were monitored and only in this position momentarily for the sake of the photo. For safe sleep, babies should always be placed on their backs in a crib with proper bedding and no loose items.

Santa Claus made his annual visit to Blank Children's Hospital today. Thanks to all who donated toys to make this wonderful day possible! The only people more appreciative than our young patients are their parents. Smiles are good medicine this time of year.
