For the third year in a row, the pediatric therapy department hosted a successful Holiday Date Night. This is a free event offered to the children we treat and their siblings, providing caregivers a little time away during the busy holiday season. A big Blank Children’s thank you to our friends at Kyle's Bikes! When our special therapy bikes needed a little repair, their team came to the rescue. They made servicing easy by picking them up, fixing quickly and then bringing the bikes back ready for more fun and healing with our kiddos!

Every Thursday, 8-year-old Carver arrives for speech therapy with a smile, thanks in part to a friendship that began right at the front door. Born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with leukemia, Carver has spent much of his young life in and out of Blank Children's Hospital. But a warm greeting from Kevin, a valet driver at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, has transformed hospital visits into something he looks forward to.

DES MOINES, Iowa – In this season of gratitude, one family is especially thankful for an unexpected friendship made at the hospital.
