We hope everyone’s Christmas was as joyful as ours. We spent time with loved ones, shared plenty of laughs, and maybe ate just a little too much… but that’s what the holidays are for. 🎄😄

Our Employee Christmas Party 🎄☃️
Between the white elephant gift exchange, great food, and festive snacks, it was the perfect way to celebrate. A small thank-you for the dedication and hard work our staff shows every single day.

🏆 Burton Behr Employee of the Year 2025 🏆
✨ Irma Contreras, CNA – Generations at Oakton Pavilion ✨

With 20 years of dedication, Irma Contreras represents the very heart of caregiving. While her years of service are remarkable, it is the quality of her work and the profound impact she has on our residents that make her truly exceptional.

Irma serves in our Memory Care Unit, caring for residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory-related disorders. This role requires extraordinary patience, empathy, and understanding, and Irma delivers all of that with calm, grace, and deep compassion. She takes the time to truly know each resident, learning their past, preferences, and routines, even when they can no longer speak for themselves. She hears beyond words, sees beyond behaviors, and protects the dignity and rights of those who rely on her most.

Our residents may not always remember her name, but they always feel the warmth, safety, and love she brings. Irma often goes beyond her role by purchasing holiday clothing and personalized gifts for residents without visitors, helping trigger comforting memories and moments of joy.

Even during a challenging year when health concerns required her to step away, her absence was deeply felt. Her return reminded everyone just how special she is.

Irma is a mentor to her peers, a trusted presence for families, and a voice and protector for residents who can no longer advocate for themselves. Her compassion unites teams, reassures families, and sets a standard that challenges all of us to be better.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Irma. We are incredibly proud to honor you as the 2025 Burton Behr Employee of the Year. 💙

It is an honor to recognize Jennifer Roman, CNA, as Employee of the Year at Oakton Arms.

Jennifer’s journey into caregiving is a powerful one. After starting her career in fast food, she made a courageous decision to change paths and become a Certified Nursing Assistant. While her journey began at a sister community, it was at Oakton Arms where her true passion and potential as a caregiver truly began to shine.

For Jennifer, caregiving is more than a job, it is a calling. She comes to work with a warm spirit and positive attitude, building genuine connections with residents through kindness, patience, and attentiveness. Her compassion leaves a lasting impact not only on the residents she serves, but also on the coworkers who are proud to work alongside her.

Jennifer is known for her reliability and strong team spirit. She consistently steps up to cover open shifts and call-offs, always putting the needs of residents first and helping ensure continuity of care.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys creative outlets like writing and pottery, and she is currently furthering her education to become a Medical Assistant. Her desire to grow and continue learning reflects the dedication she brings to everything she does.

Jennifer Roman’s story is one of growth, resilience, and heart. We are proud to celebrate her and the compassion she brings to Oakton Arms every single day. 💙

This season, we’re launching a heart-warming program where community members can “adopt” a resident and make their holiday a little brighter.

Here’s how it works:
✨ Sign up and we’ll match you with a resident
✨ We’ll provide a list of their gift ideas and wishes
✨ You shop for the items and return the unwrapped gifts to our Administration Office

It’s a simple act that makes a huge difference—and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Yesterday, we had the honor of celebrating the brave veterans who call our community home.
With 15+ veterans living here, our Valor Ceremony was filled with gratitude, stories, and pride. Each veteran was recognized with a certificate of appreciation, a small token for the tremendous service and sacrifice they’ve given to our country.

Earlier this year, Dorin experienced a severe fall that resulted in a coma and required multiple surgeries and hospitalizations. When she arrived at our facility, she required full ventilator support and was in a very delicate condition.

With time, care, and the unwavering strength she showed throughout her recovery, Dorin was able to wake from her coma and gradually transition off ventilator support. We are proud to share that she has now been safely discharged to continue her rehabilitation closer to home.

Dorin made a lasting impression on our team with her resilience, kindness, and spirit. She will be truly missed, and we wish her continued healing on the next step of her journey.
