**The Power of 13**
Today my daughter texted me and asked, “What does Friday the 13th mean?”
Without hesitation, I smiled and replied, “It is a day of the Feminine.”
Thirteen is the number of cycles. And what is cyclical can never truly be ruled, because it is always moving, always renewing, always returning to itself. The ancient calendars honored this rhythm, recognizing the 13 lunar cycles that unfold within every year. In those times, the feminine was understood as a sacred force—mysterious, creative, and free.
Yet, anything that cannot be controlled is often misunderstood. Over time, the meaning of 13 was inverted, and what was once revered became something people were taught to fear. But beneath the stories and superstitions, the truth of the number remains—quiet, luminous, and eternal.
So today, of all days, we are invited to honor the feminine within ourselves. To stand in our uniqueness. To remember those who came before us—those who protected the sacred balance of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine, knowing that only together can they create peace, joy, and true oneness.
The image below is of Freya, the Norse earth goddess for whom Friday is named. She reminds us to embrace our sensuality without shame, to appreciate our beauty, and to find joy in every moment of being alive. Friday, then, becomes more than the end of a workweek—it is a gentle threshold. A moment to release what has been given to the outer world, and to turn inward. To rest, to nurture, to celebrate your own sacred essence.
So take a quiet moment today to give thanks to the Divine Feminine archetypes who walk beside you—Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary, Mother Earth, Freya, Kali, Danu, Brigid, and so many more.
May their wisdom remind you of your own radiance, your own rhythm, and the sacred glow that lives within you.
